Can my Level 2 monk use Flurry of Blows with her Elven Curved Blade?

Rules Discussion

Hello,

I made an elf monk which is now level 2. For Ancestry Feat, I picked Elven Weapon Familiarity. For first level monk feat, I took Monastry Weapon and for second level, I took Ancestral Weaponry.

So, Elven Weapon Familiarity gives me access to the Elven Curved Blade, the Ancestral Weaponry says to treat gives it the monk trait, and Monastry Weapon says all monk weapon can be use with feats and abilities requiring unarmed attacks. And Flurry of Blows require an unarmed attack.

So can I use Flurry of Blows with my Elven Curved Blade?

Thanks,

GrimoireQc

Yes!

It's not out of line in power or anything either.

This is legal and perfectly fine. Compare the other options for flurrying with a d8

Falling Stone (1 feat), Forceful, Nonlethal, Unarmed
Gorilla Slam (1 feat), Backswing, Forceful, Grapple, Nonlethal, Unarmed
Iron Sweep (1 feat, but level 8): Nonlethal, Parry, Sweep, Unarmed
Tangled Forest (1 feat, level 8): Agile, Finesse, Nonlethal, Unarmed
Stumbling Swing (1 feat): Agile, Backstabber, Finesse, Nonlethal, Unarmed
Tiger Claw (1 feat): Agile, Finesse, Nonlethal, Unarmed
Wolf Jaw (1 feat): Agile, Backstabber, Finesse, Nonlethal, Unarmed

The Elven Curve Blade's d8, Forceful, Finesse is completely in line with these, and might even be a bit weaker since you're spending 3 feats on it. But you never need to spend an action to get into a stance, at least.

Yes, indeed. Enabling this sort of thing is the purpose of the Ancestral Weaponry feat. Consider taking Ki Strike since it would apply to the entire flurry.

Yeah, currently Ancestral Weaponry only works with Curve Blades (for elves), Clan Daggers (for dwarves), Filcher's Forks (for Halflings), Dogslicers(for Goblins), Claw Blades (for Catfolk), and Gale Blades (for Tengu). Kobolds, Ratfolk, Leshies, Hobgoblins, Iruxi, and most importantly Gnomes get nothing out of it (but we're all thankful you can't flurry with the flickmace).

Of that set the Curve Blade is probably the best weapon.

And Orcs get Orc Knuckle Dagger
