I actually tried to get away with making a Belmont character for Carrion Crown, and my group denied me immediately.

That's sad.

The Vampire Hunter class is specifically designed for the whole Belmont/Alucard/Vampire Hunter D thing... isn't it?

For a Belmont, you might need a level of Divine Tracker Ranger to get proficient with the Whip, but it comes with minor Blessings, access to Ranger Wands, full BAB, and helps your Fort save... so it's not THAT bad.

I was actually going to pay the feat for the whip, but was going to go with either corpse hunter ranger or grave warden slayer. Wasn’t allowed the vampire hunter because it’s not official Paizo.

Instead, I was forced to play the cleric because everyone else refused to be the lowly healer. Not that we finished the game anyhow.

Warpriest would have been a healthy compromise, methinks.

They can gain proficiency through their deity. Lots of feats. Weapon Training! (Or Sacred Weapon damage). Fervor! And you could heal the rest of the losers in the party, too. Lol.

Or vice versa, in the case of Riven and our most recently completed encounter.

I can imagine the gaping open mouth and the look like a landed fish still.

Don't get me wrong have played healers most of my gaming life. My old group we decided to have an NPC run with us serving as a healer or we didn't have one. My favorite healer was a Fire Oracle running around with a Pepperbox. He could heal as well as kick out some damage. Touch AC for most monsters is considerably lower.

If I were making Belmont he'd be a multi-class between Swashbuckler and Spire Defender Magus.
