My halfling Cavalier 7, Paladin 1 has a little over 10k gold in his pocket and looking for advice on what my next purchase should be. He is all about getting the charge off with Ride-by-Attack, and Wheeling Charge.

My current list of gear:
+2 Lance
+2 light steel shield
Mammoth hide armor
Amulet of natural armor +1
Belt of Thunderous Charge
Cloak of resistance +1
Knights Pennon of Honor
Quick Runner Shirt
Wayfinder
Military Saddle

Should I upgrade my Lance to +3 or is there something else I should do? Is there something out there I should be saving up for? Maybe a headband of Charisma is in order?

+3 bypasses some DR and probably is the best choice. Still, a headband of charisma +2 and a ring of protection +1 are the parts of the big six you're missing, and possibly your mount could do with an item or two. A stone of alliance is something to get some time.

At level 8, base items you're expected to have a +2 resistance item, +1 weapon, +1 armor, +1 natural armor, +1 deflection, a +2 headband, and a +2 belt.

I might go for adding menacing to the lance or a ring of tactical precision. It could possibly help both your char and the mount, unless you more specifically focus on the charge, then I would second what has already been spoken about.

Honestly, I would recommend upgrading the cloak of resistance before your weapon. Can't do dmg if you fail a bad save!

This is why he found religion in the Paladin dip, to get better saves. Planning on going one more lvl for Divine Grace

I would myself go for that dip more often than not, but it's not something I would personally recommend to others. Chiefly for the purposes of the challenge ability and possibly other things then, I'd say it's not out of sorts to keep cavalier as a solo class. For the saving throws it's a clear risk but like with many other characters, other classes do worse than them on that aspect.
