Battlecry

Rules Discussion

Will this only work if your within 30ft of a target during initiative? If so, that's rough because usually your not in such close quarters with the enemy to begin a fight.

Battle Cry uses demoralize, and says nothing about changing the range.

Battle Cry changes the Target of Demoralize from "a creature within 30 feet of you who you’re aware of" to "an observed foe".

Any more opinions about this?
I think i share Aratorin's position, but it's not totally clear for me.

Definitely with Aratorin, it's a master level feat.

BATTLE CRY

FEAT 7
GENERALSKILL
Prerequisites master in Intimidation
When you roll initiative, you can yell a mighty battle cry and Demoralize an observed foe as a free action. If you’re legendary in Intimidation, you can use a reaction to Demoralize your foe when you critically succeed at an attack roll.

Directs us to the skill action.

DEMORALIZE [one-action]

AUDITORYCONCENTRATEEMOTIONMENTAL
With a sudden shout, a well-timed taunt, or a cutting put-down, you can shake an enemy’s resolve. Choose a creature within 30 feet of you who you’re aware of. Attempt an Intimidation check against that target’s Will DC. If the target does not understand the language you are speaking, you’re not speaking a language, or they can’t hear you, you take a –4 circumstance penalty to the check. Regardless of your result, the target is temporarily immune to your attempts to Demoralize it for 10 minutes.
Critical Success The target becomes frightened 2.
Success The target becomes frightened 1.

From the combination of these two actions, I only see how Battlecry allows the attempt as a free action, and requires the target to be one that you observe as well as fitting the normal requirements of the subordinate action. While I would like for battle cry to be a little stronger, I can't honestly read it as removing all range limits from the subordinate action.

I'm with Hammerjack on this one. Battle Cry says you can Demoralize an observed foe. Demoralize is an action, and the action has a range limitation, ans Battle Cry doesn't say anything about removing this limitation. It actually adds a limitation: The foe must be observed, as Demoralize can be done on a Hidden or Unobserved foe.

Ninja'd by Hammerjack!

Battlecry really should be an expert level feat at best then, it's rather uninspiring.

Yeah, I think SuperBidi and Hammerjack are right on this one. That said, I've been letting it slide in my own games. Also, I made a homebrew feat which helps with this. Atalius, you might ask your GM if they'll let you take it.

Booming Challenge FEAT 2
Prerequisites expert in Intimidation
Your demoralizing taunts can be heard over the din of the battlefield. You may Demoralize creatures 10 feet further away. If are a master of intimidation, you can increase your Demoralize range another 10 feet, and then another 10 feet if you are Legendary. When you use this feat to Demoralize outside of the standard range, the action must have the auditory trait, and you still take a penalty if the creature doesn’t understand your language.
