Indie Bookstore Recommendations?

Anyone have a favorite local indie bookstore that is still taking online orders & shipping? I'm doing a series of social media shout-outs to indies for my new book, to encourage people to support those businesses by ordering The Chaos Court from them instead of the now-overwhelmed default option.

HOLY CARPFISH, that book sounds amazing. I can’t even find something to quibblemuch about and I expressly looked at the book just so I could make that pun! Dang it!

Gah! Tryin’ ya save money over here, man!

Unfortunately, we’ve been so ensconced that I’m not sure if any of our local stores are still doing stuff, but I’ll check it out! Thank you so much for charity giving: God bless you for it!

Maybe “beardedbrowncoat.com” (I called and he said there is a contact information button - also that they will work with people on facebook, if that’s better) to see if they qualify! Technically a gaming store, they do sell gaming related media sometimes.

EDIT: added clarity, fixed some things now that I’m not in the phone. XD

Thanks much! I'll add them to the list.

Surely there have to be more suggestions than that...

Unfortunately I don't know of any brick and mortar indie bookstores in my area. Unless you count the used books and games place I tend to salvage old d&d books from, but since you're talking a newly printed book I figured not.

I buy all my books on Kindle these days anyway.

I've given the link out a couple of places (as of yesterday evening), buuu~uuut, I don't know if anyone on those Discords have accounts! I have noted that if they know of any of their local places, and lack an account here, they can tell me, and I can tell you, here, but not takers on that, either.

Thanks! I appreciate that!

I'm getting a pretty good list together from other sources too (a friend pointed me to a site called IndieBound.org that has been a great resource).

Oh, I know one! Actually I know 1+1+1

Nicola's Books

Literati Books

Bookbound

There are specialty bookstores too, but I don't think they're a good fit.

There is an awesome indie bookstore near me - Bruised Apple Books, in Peekskill, NY.
They buy and sell used books and various other media, such as records, CDs, DVDs, etc. They do have some new stuff as well, mostly focusing on local history, and topics relating to NYC, the Hudson Valley and nearby interests.

The place is as authentic as you can get. I have known the owner for years, and he is a great guy. His shop is a key pillar of the local community, especially artists musicians and fellow eccentrics. If you are ever around Peekskill, stopping by the Bruised Apple is a must!

Just finished it last night and the book is amazing. My only complaint is the preview for the sequel (YAY!) was too short. :) At the rate 2020 is going, 2021 feels like it is three decades away.

THANK YOU!

I'm so glad you liked it.

Somewhat tangential to your request for indie bookstores, but there might be a way to suss out some new ones here

I'll have to mention:

Buffalo Street Books in my hometown of Ithaca, NY.

Yes! They're doing great work. I've been pointing people in that direction.
