Question about dimension door and touch as free action.

Rules Questions

Hi.

I have a question about dimension door and free "touch". Dimension door have this written: " All creatures to be transported must be in contact with one another, and at least one of those creatures must be in contact with you."

During combat, does anyone can be in contact with my allies as a free action? Or during other turns?

Questions:

Question 1: Timmy, a powerful wizard, is adjacent to two of his allies. One is on his right side, the other is on his left side, he is being adjacent to both. I suppose Timmy, on his turn, can cast dimension door, touch both of them at the same time and holding contact and teleporting everyone. Right?

Question 2: Suppose a "chain" of allies. Timmy is the leftmost one, Joffrey is the middle one, and then Teddy on his right side. Timmy and teddy are NOT adjacent to each other. Can timmy cast dimension door, so that joffrey can "freely" touch teddy so the three of then can teleport together?

Question 3: Suppose the same chain from question 2. Joffrey is using a sword and shield. Can he touch teddy without droping his sword? (during timmy's turn).

Thanks!

1) Yes. Dimension Door has Verbal Components only, so it is more than reasonable to allow the caster to touch his allies on either side of him.

2) Yes. As long as everyone to be teleported is touching, and at least one of those people are touching you, you can teleport a "chain" of allies.

3) Debatable, but I'd say yes. One camp might say that you'd have to "grab" to touch, while another camp might say that you can touch the target with your fist even though you're still holding a sword. Even if your GM ruled No, just have Teddy grab Joffrey instead of Joffrey grabbing Teddy, or have them link arms at the elbow, or simply sheath your sword. Problem solved.

"All creatures to be transported must be in contact with one another, and at least one of those creatures must be in contact with you."

They rules don't specify "grab" (nor do the rules for touch spells being discharged). If we go by touch spell rules, even accidental touching is enough (though this isn't a touch spell).

All the rules for this spell specify is simply "in contact with." Fist bumps to teleport the bro-squad would work as written. Or elbow touching, or his forearm, or scooting close and pushing his arm against you like a cute girl you're in a cramped car with. All works RAW

I fully support a full group of Dimensional Dervish Fist Bumpers.

I always envision people putting their hands on each others shoulders or backs.
