Messing with minds

Advice

Hello everyone,
I'm trying a new character concept and I need your wisdom (or intelligence if that's how you roll).
I want to play a tiefling (it has to be one) that try to end fights with the less violence possible. I was thinking mainly using enchantments, illusions and these kind of means to stop his ennemies. But I'm open to suggestions (I thought of a disarming monk for exemple.)
I will start level 1 with a 20 points build and no traits except with drawbacks. And I don't like multiclassing much.
What do you think might be the most fun to play and yet useful?
Thanks for your advice!

Mesmerist is all about messing with your foes. You stare at people in an unnerving way (inflicting various penalties) and get a lot of thematic spells (up to mass charm person, power word blind and programmed image). It doesn't hurt that you can support your friends (well, those who think they are) in various ways.

The class uses psychic magic, but the differences are actually not that big. Since it uses Charisma as casting stat, you might want to use a tiefling heritage that gets +2 for that, or at least no penalty.

The problem with Mesmerist is that it requires you to use Painful Stare, which means violence is needed from time to time.

I think you'd be good with a Psychic.

With the Magaambyan Telepath archetype and the Will of the Dead phrenic amplification, you could target animals, plants and undead with mind-affecting spells.
