My GM said I could have a wakizashi in his game, but since no stats for such a weapon currently exist, that (for the sake of balance) I would have to use the stats of an existing weapon and just reflavor it as a wakizashi.
But what weapon most resembles a wkizashi in terms of mechanics alone? What would you choose and why? Remember, appearance doesn't matter since we're changing the flavor anyways, only the mechanics.

Agree with the others, but just to go a little more in depth:
The wakizashi is a secondary weapon, smaller and more maneuverable, better for fighting indoors, occasionally used alongside a katana (but very rarely not traditionally). Agile makes a lot of sense.
It's primarily a slashing weapon, though it has a tip so you can stab with it. It should definitely do slashing damage, it could do piercing damage too, but it probably shouldn't do blunt damage.
So weapons that fit those criteria are: Dagger, Sickle, Dogslicer, Hatchet, Kama, Kukri, Main Gauche, Scourge, Shortsword, Starknife and Sawtooths.
It's not a throwing weapon, definitely shouldn't do nonlethal damage and isn't really used for tripping.
So that leaves the Dogslicer, Main-gauche, Shortsword and Sawtooth.
Wakizashi aren't really built to fill a similar role as a parrying dagger and I can't find any real evidence that paired wakizashi are a thing.
So that leaves shortsword and maybe dogslicer as the best fits. Not sure how much sense backstabber makes, but looking at the dogslicer itself I'm not quite sure why the trait is there either so it's probably fine.

Well. backstabber seems to be a more lore related trait then one with a lot of physical attributes
I mean, why does a filchers fork have backstabber - and why does the dagger, the most classical backstabbing weapon, not?
I would guess in this case the dogslicer has the trait because the original designers were a bunch of nasty little buggers :P
