I do have questions about LARPing.
Do you have oversized dice you have to roll?
Do you need poster board for your character sheet.
Is it hard finding someone to enchant costume weapons.
More seriously, is there actual rules involved, or is it more freeform?
I hope you have a wonderful holiday and are able to indulge your hobby!

I LARPed for years. I dressed up and went to work every day. I pretended to be a productive member of society. :)
Something something "all the world's a stage. And all the men and women merely NPCs"?

Thank you so much! I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well. I've played in my fair share of games, and they all are pretty different. Some are incredibly mechanics-heavy (you can tell that they draw heavily from tabletop), some are light on the rules, and some are free form, although the latter is somewhat rare. At the LARP I'm a dev for, we've spent about a year writing mechanics to make sure a bunch of the moving parts work together for our players.
I'm an active LARPer, and in 2020 I'm going to my first larp abroad:
Oh man, that looks SO COOL. I have a roommate who's been doing a fair amount of out of state and international LARPs, and the ones in Europe sound amazing. If only it were easy to jump across the pond...

I've never once had a boss who appreciated being called "Quest Giver."

Oddly I live in NJ and we seem to be the Land of Endless LARPs...
You're absolutely right, I have no idea why so many are concentrated in specifically that state???
Two friends of mine wrote this LARP.
That's the most unique LARP I've ever heard of. It's really interesting when LARP and politics collide, as it happens so very rarely.

Sadly I don't have the time or money to LARP anymore...
Also for some reason there seems to lots of politics among the staff of LARPs...which was annoying.

I just remembered a LARP story from several years back. In Little Rock, about 30 miles from where I live, there was a really active Vampire: the Masquerade LARP group. They usually met in a small park near one of the really, really nice hotels downtown.
One really cold night they had gathered back there for some meeting of the clans or something like that. Out of nowhere this pickup truck with guys dressed like the cardinals from Monty Python's Inquisition sketch comes roaring down the street. The "cardinals" jumped out with Super Soaker water guns with "H2OLY" painted on them, doused the group, then peeled out.
This was told to me by someone who claimed to have been an "interested bystander", so I don't quite know how much credence to give it, but wow. That would've been something to see.

Its the most expensive part of it. The LARPs themselves are gennerally not expensive if you look at what you get for what you pay.
If you ever want to jump across the pont, let me know. I'll also be at Paizocon if you want to swap LARP stories :)

wOW. That...sounds like it would be absolute chaos, but fun to watch from the outside. I love the H2OLY guns. A+

I'd love to chat! Yeah, every time I look at air faire I blanche and quickly navigate to a different tab. I suppose it's all about buying at the right time of year, but some of the LARPs there are, like, €100 or something like that, for a high-immersion weekend. That's a much better price than for ones over here mostly.
