"The struts on this reinforcing boss bear large, sturdy hooks, which can be used to snag an opponent’s clothing or armor, causing it to stumble. You can attempt trip combat maneuver checks with this shield. If the combat maneuver check is successful, the opponent does not fall prone, but is considered flat-footed until the beginning of its next turn."
Trying to make a Sap Master using this mechanic. However, in the limb that has the buckler, can he wield a hammer or something as well, and on other iterative attacks, use the hammer?
Does it make a difference if he has Unhindering Shield?
"You still gain a buckler’s bonus to AC even if you use your shield hand for some other purpose. When you wield a buckler, your shield hand is considered free for the purposes of casting spells, wielding weapons, and using any other abilities that require you to have a free hand or interact with your shield, such as the swashbuckler’s precise strike deed or the Weapon Finesse feat."
I thought there was some rule about how many attack types a certain limb can do, but I think that was geared towards natural attacks. Also, I'm not sure if that allowed for different attacks on different iteratives.

No.
In order to hook them to make them flat-footed and Shield Bash with the same buckler for the Sap Master benefit you would need:
BAB +6/+1, Sneak Attack +3D6, DEX 13, Proficiency with Shields,
Upsetting Shield Style, Shield Focus, Unhindering Shield, Bludgeoner, Sap Adept, Sap Master
To do it with both hands (hooked buckler in the main hand, a Sap in the off hand), you would need:
Sneak Attack +3D6, DEX 13, Proficiency with Shields, Upsetting Shield Style, TWF, Sap Adept, Sap Master
Or...
Be an UnChained Monk with a Seven Branched Sword, and exactly the right combination of classes with Sneak Attack to see what a two-handed sword/knee/headbutt/Sap Master build can do...

So, it is possible? Try to hook with your first attack with your left hand. Then, the rest of your attacks are unarmed, non-lethal, with BOTH hands. Nothing in the rules against that?
Note, the buckler won't be attacking at all, except to try to make the opponent flat-footed via a trip attack attempt.

Yes, it is possible. Fact.
Take into consideration the order of the attacks, though.
Hooked Buckler, main attack, Trip maneuver to make the target flat-footed...
Off-hand attack with your sap, and TWF extra attacks with your sap...
You are not going to be swinging two saps...
The buckler is its own weapon in its own hand, your primary hand.
You can mix and match your hands when you get TWF and as your BAB allows, but the hook trick really only works with the buckler being the first attack... followed by multiple Sap Master thumps.

Upsetting shield style lets you use a buckler as a light shield for shield bashing, among other things. If you just use the buckler w/hooked boss to execute the trip/flat-footed maneuver then attack with other weapons or unarmed then you wouldn't need that style feat as far as I can tell.
That's handy.

This is kinda what I was really trying to narrow down. As a buckler DOES allow for you to hold/use weapons in the same hand, can you use the same limb to use the buckler to make flat footed, then use both hands to sap (or merciful hammers, whatever)?
