Zherxikas flies forward and over the small wall of the steps to fire off another scorching ray from his wand hitting the trollhound the cave this time. The smell of burned flesh permeates the air, the hound squeals, and then falls over dead.

Both trollhounds come running in from behind the ettin, underneath his legs and attack the nearest intruder, Forest. The first hound gets a face full of shield, the second finds a leg and bites down hard (dmg 16). It tries to upend Forest but the warrior shifts his weight onto the bitten leg, bites back a curse, and prevents himself from being tripped. Then the ettin shows an amazing amount of coordination with its two spiked clubs as it swings numerous times at Forest but all are deflected by sword or shield.

A shame Forest's hands are full of sword and shield. He lowers his head when Kizzy is near, touching his helm to her forehead. "Thanks, Kizzy You really are the best."
"Eight ogres, with one leader. Hmm..." He could float the idea of challenging the leader to to honorable single combat and letting the others go, but Forest wants to kill all the ogres, and Runt would probably challenge him for the right to face the leader... "Uhh, are you all up for fighting eight ogres? Hey birb, what were they working on, anyways?"

Casting haste in the cave or waiting until the ogres are in sight?
The team exits the ettin cave headed north. A series of large steps leads up the cliff face to the top of the dam. Just before stepping out on the dam, Kizzy and Runt cast their spells. Then the group steps out on the dam proper. The rain is lighter than when they were at Fort Rannick but still hard enough to make it difficult to make out detail beyond sixty feet or so (20% miss chance beyond that). The dam itself was made for giant sized workers it would seem. The side railings were eight foot stone walls effectively closing in the top of the dam other it having a roof. In the distance the team could make out eight large figures leaning against the dam walls, four on the north and four on the south. Standing between them is another large figure with a weapon in hand. At the midpoint of the dam is a large building like structure which is vine and moss covered and resembles a large skull like all of the other decorations on this dam.
