I'm trying to compare these two classes. Have not gotten too deep into the analytics but it appears the Fighter is more accurate, does more damage, has more HP and just does a better job tanking. The Monk has superior mobility, better Saving throws, has some very nice crowd control (with FoM if he chooses that route) and also will likely have his own form of AOO in Stand Still. He has so many good feats it's hard to choose many Focus Powers because his other feats are very good. What are some other ways the Monk is better than the Fighter?

At level 10 other classes can get access to that by MC ing monk. At that point you have to consider their other advantages, like good strikes with the stances, higher Ac and movement, and stunning fist DC scaling.
After level 10 their main advantage is ac and mobility, looking at my chart dex based monks are ahead of fighters with damage done with 1 action in most situations, haven't tested things like fighter MC monk, but the monk will have a good Ac advantage over that.

Why would other classes MC into monk and use their fists? I don't see such a huge advantage in that?

I think ultimately the reason to pick one class instead of another (aside from theme) is the higher level class feats which you either can never get through multiclassing (12th level and up) or come at a prohibitive cost (no one's going to spend their level 20 class feat on a 10th level feat from a different class, and an 8th level feat in the 16th or 18th level slot is pushing it.)

To get flurry of blows, two attacks for one action.

But just with unarmed attacks or monk weapons?
