Does Ring of Doubling + Shield Boss / Spikes work?

Rules Discussion

As title says, I can't see why it wouldn't since the shield spike would count as a wielded weapon and can be upgraded like one, but just wanted to check if there's something I missed.

I don't see any reason it wouldn't. Ring of doubling just specifies a "melee weapon" and shield boss/spikes are listed under "melee weapons".

This is swell, wanted to try a different path with the shield and gonna mix in some Double Slice on Fighter, this way I can have a fancy shield to build around, and change main hand weapons a bit more whimsically, transferring runes from shield via the rings.

Pretty sure the level 5 pregen of Valeros is using a ring of doubling (but doubling from his sword to his shield) so pretty sure that's an intended use case.

Pretty sure it works.
I'm rather certain unarmed strikes are the only thing that can't work with the doubling ring.
Might wraps might work however with that combination (though then I think it might restrict you to punching not kicking, or jump kicking, elbows, etc, because of the "hand" phrasing but no clue really)
