Monk errata

Rules Discussion

Okay. Captain Morgan summarized the Friday stream for us. One clarification on some errata was that monks do, indeed, use Wisdom for their Ki things.
Does this mean that they use Wisdom for their Class DC when calculating saves against their Ki powers, and use Str or Dex to their Class DC for everything else (such as Stunning Fist)?

Class DC uses your key ability score, so Strength or Dex.

It's the same for champions who cast with charisma but don't have it as key ability.

So, then what DC for Ki powers? I'm confused now.

It uses the same proficiency bonus as your class DC, but you add your wisdom bonus instead of your key ability score bonus to it.

Class and spell DC are not the same thing even if they happen to use the same stat on casters. But not on monks or champions.

Your DC for Ki Blast and Quivering Palm (I think that's it for now) is based on Wisdom. Your DC for Stunning Fist and Tangled Forest Stance is based on Strength/Dexterity. This is probably not as simple as it could have been.

How to tell- if something has a prerequisite of "Ki Spells" or a specific Ki spell (e.g. Ki Strike) you use Wisdom for your DC if one is called for.

Kinda feels like class DC should be wisdom; it would do a lot to help high-wis monks feel their investment is justified if stunning fist scaled off of it. As it stands the earliest you get anything that goes off of wisdom is 6th.

Oh. Then isn't that like what I said in my post up top?

And your wisdom has no effect on your ki pool or any of your non-offensive ki powers, correct?

What you said up top was correct, yes.

Theoretically they would add more Ki Spells that ask for a DC in future products, including some low level ones.

In practice though, right now your primary reasons to increase wisdom is "will and perception are important" and "I see my character as being wise" and not "I really want to land Ki Blast" since you can do without Ki Blast.

Correct. Your "ki pool" is just a focus pool the same as any caster; you get one point for each spell you have, to a maximum of three.

In light of all this, I have finished converting my PF1 maneuver master monk to PF2. He has all the flurry of maneuvers and everything. A very cinematic mf, imo.
