How to multiclass Ranger with Fighter

I am interested in taking some fighter feats (archery feats -> point blank shot, double shot, triple shot)

I looked in the rulebook and reread forum threads on multi-classing but I still don't know how to multi-class.

Can I go any amount of levels I want in ranger then dip into fighter and go back and forth at will?

To take advantage of a level 2 class feat for fighter, would that mean I'd need to dip 3 levels into fighter?

I'm not quite sure how the fighter dedication archetypes work, as it doesn't list the point blank shot and double shot.

Basically, how do I multi-class?

All multiclassing now is done with archetypes. If you buy into the fighter archetype with a class feat of level 2 or higher, you can then select other feats in the archetype which allow you to spend ranger class feats on fighter class feats treating half your ranger level as your fighter level.

Be warned, the fighter dedication itself does almost nothing for a ranger.

Does this mean I can't get access to point blank shot or double shot?

How does one buy into a fighter archetype with a class feat of level 2 or higher?

Instead of getting a class feat at level 4, for example, I can choose to dip into a fighter class feat of half my level, so a level 2 or less fighter class feat?

Seems like its nothing like pf1. Still can't quite get my head around it.

At every even level you get a class feat. Now instead of choosing one from your own class, you can chose a dedication feat, such as fighter dedication. This gives you the benefits described in the feat. When you get your next class feat at lv4, you can take any fighter dedication feat you meat the requirements for such as basic maneuver. Basic maneuver lets you pick any 1st or 2nd level fighter class feat that you meet the requirements for, such as point blank shot.

You can take the Advanced Maneuver feat at lv6 and gain another fighter feat. But for the purpose of meeting it's requirements your fighter level is equal to half your character level. And since double shot is a 4th level fighter feat, you'll have to wait until ranger level 8 before you can get it.

If you want double shot you can spend your 2nd level class feat on "fighter dedication", your 4th or 6th level class feat on "basic maneuver" which gives you a 1st or 2nd level fighter class feat (likely point-blank shot or assisting shot) then your 8th level class feat "advanced maneuver" which gets you double shot.

Later, you could spend your 12th level class feat on advanced maneuver again, getting your triple shot.

Thank you guys!!

So I must take the fighter dedication first. Then the second feat I can take a basic maneuver at class feat level 4 or any above?

I get to keep all of the ranger classes level bonuses, I just lose a couple class feats and that's all if I dip into fighter?

Seems very viable for ranger to dip into fighter feats since lot of his class feats don't seem super great.

Correct. After taking fighter dedication, you can take basic maneuver in place of any ranger class feat.

And yes, all you're losing is a couple feats. You keep everything else the ranger class gives you. Whether it's worth the trade is up to you.
