The Chelish Diabolist

Looking at the way that Summoning spells have been broken up between the four lists, I noticed that ...
* - Summon Fiend has been moved exclusively to the Divine list. So has Summon Celestial. :(
* - The Evil (formerly Fiendish) property no longer applies to anything a wizard summons.
This invalidates a whole raft of PF1 and D&D character concepts, such as the Chelish Diabolist mentioned in the title.

I noticed this "problem" when I converted the traits for the Council Of Thieves AP.

The Planar Binding ritual (minimum spell level 6) may be what you want. Page 414.

Silver Crusade

Yep, Binding is still a thing, just not "summon fiendish killbot for 20 seconds".

But, a wizard can still summon that killbot, just not a fiendish one. So, I am not sure what is gained via the change.

This also means that my write-up for the "Diabolist Raised" background needs revised.

Sovereign Court

Changing the class of the diabolist from wizard to cleric or sorcerer with the diabolist bloodline (which probably works well for council of thieves to be quite honest), won't make a huge difference.

Sounds like Diabolism could be a Thesis that grants special access to a handful of Divine spells.

Yeah with Cheliax still being a thing I definitely see a Diabolist option for Wizards down the line.

With the Church of Asmodeus being the state church of Cheliax, it's thematically appropriate in my mind for cleric being the go to diabolist.

I feel like the game desperately lacks a low-level version of the Planar Binding ritual. I think I'm going to house rule it based on the Table 7-1.

mild spoilers ahead:

A released adventure features minor extraplanar entities "bound to serve" a 5th level creature explained by "paying a hedge mage to do it".

I highly doubt an 11th level wizard could be called a "hedge mage" and it feels like Lesser Planar Binding was supposed to be in the game right up until the last moment.
