spell damage

Rules Discussion

What have we seen so far for the damage/healing of spells?

Heal does 1d8 + 8 at first level
The elemental sorcerer elemental blast does 8d6 as a 5th level power and +2d6 each level.
Lightning bolt did 4d12 I think at 3.
Shocking grasp does 2d12 as a level 1 spell.

healing damage scales with the spell slot
+1d8 per spell level for single action, +2d8 for two or more actions

there are too many spells to list here and a big chunk of the numbers we know from the playtest are probably out of date

I was listing things that have been revealed from the final version, not the play test.

Also
Hydraulic push spell 1 3d6, +1 = +2d6
Holy cascade spell 4 9d6, +1 = +3d6

Is this only for spells of 1st and higher? We have a couple of cantrip examples floating around out there, too. I can't recall the damage on ...grim tendrils, was it? Mykah the Gnome used it on Oblivion Oath.

Divine lance = 1d4+Casting mod (+1d4 per heighten)

You've seen cantrips other than divine lance? It would be great to know how much they did.

I believe we have heard that 14 HP is a good roll for a first level Soothe.

That is certainly more then the 1d6+mod from the playtest

I can't recall the episode of Oblivion Oath, and I might be wrong on it being a cantrip so apologies for that; in the playtest it was a first level spell, I don't know if that's still the case. But Mykah definitely cast a line spell called Grim Tendrils, someone else may know the damage/effects of it, though!

The Heal spell scales 1d8 per level for the 1 and 3 action versions. And I believe the 2 action version was confirmed to scale 1d8+8 per level, I THINK. I swear I heard tell that a level 4 Heal at 2 actions heals 4d8+32.

This is correct. This was mentioned in the Glass Cannon thing from PaizoCon.

1st level Soothe being able to heal 14 HP on a good roll was also confirmed on the forums by Mark Seifter after showing up in Oblivion Oath.

We also know that Lay On Hands, a Focus Spell, is 6 HP times level (so 24 HP as a 4th Level Spell).

So healing spells are pretty respectable in terms of amount healed. That's good since they are primarily an in-combat tool now (okay, Lay on Hands is an out of combat one as well), due to how Treat Wounds works.
