My books arrived today! So I skipped right to the Monsters by Type Appendix in the Bestiary and spend an hour and a half inputting that data into a google sheet.
Now you can use that labour to figure out encounter xp! With setting Party Size, APL and Encounter severity you can add all the current monsters and hazards (with Elite/Weak toggles too) and it'll work out the XP budget for you.
Hope this helps folks and please don't look at the formula's too closely (my sheetfu is pretty naff and I've brute forced most of it with the few functions I know!)
Feel free to copy it if you want to use it.

This is awesome, thanks! I want an encounter where the enemies start in hunter's hides and ambush the party - I'm guessing that's what the Circumstance field is for? What do I put in there?
Yeah circumstance is for "how much harder/easier do you think these monsters are based on the circumstances." E.G These are ranged enemies in a position that players have to fly/climb to engage I think thats worth another 20xp.
I might make it a drop down going from Major Disadvantage to Major Advantage, but for now its up to you to decide how much xp budget to spent on circumstantial benefits.

Ok, I see. I have 3 level -1 goblin warriors, and set Circumstance to 10, but it only counted for 10. Shouldn't it be a modifier per enemy?
EDIT: I modified F4 to =(D4*E4)+(G4*D4) and copied it down. It works how I'd prefer now. Not sure if you agree that's how it should work.

I ummed and ahhed between lump xp or per monster. As an extra variable to tweak that isn't codified in the rules I finally decided that lump number was cleaner and stopped it eating more xp budget than the banes themselves.
As essentially a "GM feeling" column I may make it a toggle between the two so folks can decide what fits best.

Is there a mistake in the "XP Per Player" field? When I increase the number of PCs, it goes up, not down.
EDIT: Also, the playtest had a level 3 Necromancer NPC. Is it not in the bestiary? I guess I'll have to just build a wizard.
IIRC you don't divide total xp, they should each get the same total xp for the encounter so it would make sense that the total goes up when adding a pc.

With a 4-PC party, the XP budget and the XP gotten are the same for a given difficulty. But when you add more PCs, you add to the budget and not the reward, since it's not a harder fight.

Fixed. I had originally done it properly, then when I went in to allow people to add additional xp to the encounter (which higher player numbers should get a portion of) I broke it.
The XP per player will now always reference the 4 player amount, plus a portion of the extra xp you add to the encounter.
It looks incomplete as of now, isn't it? Or is the Solar missing in B1?And Giant Monitor Lizard as a Monitor type is actually quite funny...
I don't see the Solar anywhere in the new bestiary, I went through the Monsters by Type Appendix to get the monster list, and it doesn't seem to be in the Alphabetical list either. Can you give me a page reference in case this is a book error? EDIT: Oh I see you aren't saying its in there and I missed it. Nope it doesn't look like the Solar made it into the first Bestiary.
And the Monitor Lizard is the most funny Trap Street I could think of. Obviously now its been noticed it isn't much of a Trap Street.
EDIT: Also for Lordcirth, added a toggle for Lump Sum or Per Bane on the circumstance and a guide for how I think it should be used.

Looks like I'll have to bash together a thing for some of the devils upcoming in my campaign, including the Hamatula. Fortunately the playtestiary has a sample I can modify.
When I add stat output I'll try and make it easy to add new ones. For now all you have to do to get the builder to recognize a bane is to type its name in the correct level column on its Type sheet.
