2e - How much will it cost over time?

Paizo Products

I am trying to put money aside for Pathfinder 2e.

If I would like to buy everything from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game/Pathfinder Rulebook, the Pathfinder Adventure Path and all of the setting materials, how much money should I put aside each month? (No pawns, flip mats, miniatures, cards, character sheets, modules or society scenarios.)

I guess one campaign setting book every quarter for 25$ (perhaps every two months?)
One new big hardcover every quarter for 55$
Adventure Path each month for 25$
I am not sure about the companion line.

25*0.5+55*0,25+2=51,25$ each month?

There's 4 lines going into pathfinder second edition. Without accounting for shipping, you'll have roughly 60 every quarter for a rulebook, around 40 either quarterly or every other month for the world guide(combined replacement for campaign setting and companion), 25 a month for adventure paths. Last line is the module line, but I'm not sure about that line.

I'd say averaged out over the year it's going to be 100+$ monthly.

The first month you have a 400$ investment right off the bat if you buy everything.

Don't forget that if you have a subscription for the APs you get a 15% discount on all other purchases. If you're going to be buying it anyways a subscription is the way to go.

We actually don't know what the requirements for Paizo Advantage will be in 2E. I have been keeping an eye out for the new rules and may consider adjusting my subscriptions for the combination of whatever they turn out to be and my idea of "must have" vs. unwanted subscriptions.

Yeah. I live in the EU, so shipping is a huge factor (and custom/duty/tariff).

If there is a deal (for example the pdfs are for free or something) I would reconsider it. But right now I am happy with my friendly local online retailer. :-D

The subscription benefits for 2E haven't been anounced yet (I hope they will do that at PaizoCon and in a blog here soon thereafter).

But coming from 1E as a charter subscriber, I hope that not much will change (at best nothing at all).

I live in the EU as well, and the free pdf for AP's and rulebooks is very much worth it. For a few months now, the shipping has changed for the better for me, as most books are now shipped in seperate envelopes.
This has several advantages for me:
-I don't get those pesky peanut-stuffings any more that cling to everything and anything as soon as the package is opened.
-Getting access to the PDF's for the products is slightly faster (subjective, could be it's as fast as before, but it feels like I get them earlier than before)
-I'm less often hit by import-taxes, as the smaller packages mean, that most of them are below the threshold, in my country.

Liberty's Edge

I had several cases of bent corners with the separate envelop system. Far more frequently than with the previous system :-(

I hope it will disappear with the thicker books of PF2 though

IT DOESN'T MATTER THE COST!
Sell your kids' PS4. Eat mustard sandwiches for weeks. We must have these books.

Thank you. Carry on.

Not saying your point isn't valid, far from it.

I can see people wanting their books to arrive in perfect condition, but in that case, the cheapest possible shipping method might not be your best option.

The pdfs are free with the subscription.

Although if it is like Australia it is simply still cheaper and faster to order from somewhere like book depository and then buy the pdf.

They even have better protected books parcels in my experience.

Play from the SRD = $0.

Basically. Are we playing PF or collecting it? One is very expensive, the other can be pretty cheap, even if you do buy the stuff you use.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

If you're on a tight budget, buy the Core Rulebook and use SRD for everything else.

As others have said, as long as you don't care much for the setting information (such as if you're running a homebrew world) then the entire game is effectively free.

Though it sounds like you're a collector, so it really depends on what Paizo's overall release cadence looks like. I don't know if they've nailed it down entirely yet.

Rules should all be available at Archives of Nethys for free.

Basic setting material is available at Pathfinder Wiki, though if you want more detail than you can find there, you'll have to buy the Lost Omens books.

The Companion line no longer exists; there's just the Lost Omens line.

If you want to run adventure paths or adventures, those you will have to buy.

I am surprised this got necroed.
Thanks for the advice folks!
