Problems understanding Words of Power

Rules Questions

Hello, everyone

So I'm trying to get into wordcasting, but there is something I dont understand about determining the level of a spell. I get how effect words define the level of a spell, but how do meta words and target words factor it?

I noticed that with "boost" it often lists the boosted version of an effect word in a higher level spell slot in the words by class list, but what about other meta words?

Also I can't find a single thing on how target words change anything.

Is the level of a wordspell simply defined by the highest level word (or combination of effect words) I have arranged within it, or do I add the level of the target word?

Metawords and target words do not affect the level of the spell unless they specifically say so. This is why boost always explicitly states how many levels it increases the spell by. If it doesn't say it increases the wordspell's level, then it doesn't. This goes for target words as well; so long as your chosen effect words list the target word as a valid choice, you can apply it.

Oh okay, i didn't think it would be this simple. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, a level 0 cantrip with a blast radius tends to throw people off a little, but it is quite cool.

Minor nitpick here...

The level of a word is also the minimum level of the spell slot that can be used to arrange that word into a wordspell.

Targetting word for Burst is lvl 1. No cantrip for you!

Your options for lvl 0 spells are Selected, Personal and 10 foot (un-boosted) cone.
