Dumb question... but...

Rules Questions

So... I was reading up on the Oracle class while looking at different Support healer options for Pathfinder (not Pure healer as I'd like something to do during combat. Was thinking Divine Expression 1 Bard/X Oracle). Anyway, I was looking at the Spirit Guide archetype and noticed it was Errata'ed.

A spirit guide gains one hex of her choice from the list of hexes available from that spirit. She uses her oracle level as her shaman level, and she switches Wisdom for Charisma and vice versa for the purpose of determining the hex's effects.

Does that mean a Spirit Guide Oracle who goes Life+Life has their second Channel pool determined off of Wisdom instead of Charisma? (i.e.: 2+CHA+WIS/Day Channel Energy instead of [1+CHA]*2/Day Channel Energy).

Currently debating on Pei Zin Practitioner or Spirit Guide for one of my new builds, and this might sway my opinion.

Yes that would be correct.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but a Life Shaman's Channel is a Spirit Ability, not a hex, so it's not select-able. Sorry.

Pei Zin Practitioner will likely fit what you're going for a little better (that, or a Hospitaler Paladin, which gets its LoH and Channel in 2 separate pools, has a full BAB, but is a 'pseudo-caster' whilst you seem to want full caster/no-alignment restriction).

Wait a second... Oh my god, I'm an idiot!!!

I was reading the wrong section of the Bonded Spirit ability. At 7th level, they gain the Spirit's ability of the spirit they are bonded to, so it doesn't have anything to do with the hex they gain at 4th level. Now I feel like a complete moron.

My idiocy to the side, the character is planned to be strictly no offense support caster (basically, hides behind the meat walls and sanctuary to cast buff spells and support the party while keeping them all from dying a painful death). While an Oradin seems like it would be fun to play, this character is going less "hitty smasy" and more "buffy healy".

Thank you for pointing that out, I would have been driven insane by my own buffoonery. haha

=====(Edit)=====
On that side note, can a Spirit Guide Oracle have two separate sets of Life Links? For example; if the Oracle were to have both the Life Oracle's Lifelink and Life Spirit's Lifelink, would they be able to link both Lifelink's to a single target?

Given how it doesn't say lvs stack, I would say you get 2 pools of life links 1 equal to Oracle lv and 1 equal to "Shaman" lv.

I could be wrong however; and, you would be taking lots of damage, so good luck.

I mean if your whole shtick is pumping out healing until the enemy keels over from old age, why not look at the Healer's Hands feat in conjunction with Signature Skill: Heal? Full-Round action to roll a Treat Deadly wounds Heal check that recovers @ 5th 2HP/HD [+Wis if you hit a DC25; + Ranks in Knowledge:Planes if you hit a DC30]. Would effectively give you a scaling sub pool of healing outside of your build for 2 skill points/level, 2 feats, and a full-round.

Healer's Hands is not PFS legal and Signature Skills require Unchained Rogue levels. Otherwise that would be a funny and gimmicky way of healing. Although, there are other things that can be done beside healing that aren't directly attacking the enemy (debuffs and buffs for instance) which is why I had shown interest in having 2 Lifelinks up at the same time, as it heals 16 points of damage just by standing there. (at the cost of 10hp per person I am healing... Good thing my FCB is going into HP with a high Con score! lmao).

I'm not one of those guys who thinks healing in combat is useless, but I've played a lot of Oracles (since I end up being the healer in most of our games). Being a one-trick pony gets boring pretty fast. I encourage you to make your build, but try to find something additional you can do, if for no other reason than to entertain yourself.

I'm planning a Melee Life Oracle for Giantslayer using the Pai Zin Archetype - healing and melee - he can swift heal himself if a giant tags him.

In Mummy's Mask, I'm running a Fire Mystery Oracle Spirit Guide who heals (using the Life Spirit), blasts (using the Fire Mystery Spells) and has an Animal Companion (from feats) that he uses for melee fun from time to time, or as a mount at other times. I also expanded his spell selection by taking the Haunted Curse. Elemental Spell has proven important since resistance to Fire is fairly common.

I also did the blaster/healing Oracle in an earlier AP, but the build was a little different than Mummy's Mask and it had no animal companion and I took the Burnt Curse for more fire spells.

I was looking at a Ganzi Pei Zin Oracle (healing again) who used the FCB to get enchantment spells to entertain himself when not healing. I was worried though that the spells would come too late (you don't get 1st level enchantment spells until 4th level).

I do tend towards "Caster" type oracles, so the Giantslayer melee oracle is kind of different for me.

The point is, I'd try to find a second thing to do - at some point being just a healer gets boring (or it could just be me!).

Good luck and have fun with your character.

I think spirit guide is better if you are worried about getting bored with healing. The spirit guide has the option of picking a different spirit everyday, so could go blaster or controller with a day’s notice.
