Investigator wand / potions

Advice

I swear I did this before but couldn't find the post. So currently have a level 5 investigator/ level 1 swashbuckler. His main thing is a dex based fencer that relies on items (UMD is 16) I currently have wands of comprehend language, cure light, detect magic and shield (typically in a wrist sheathe) Potions right now are barkskin, bull's str, darkvision and heroism. Currently have mutagen, quick study and extend potion. Planned to take enhanced potion at level 7 but might wait (have a ton of things i want to take. Reg feats are Extra investigator talent, fencing grace, power attack, skill focus umd and weapon focus rapier. +1 rapier, mithril chainshirt, and cloak of resist. Belt of con, headband of int, handy haversack and ioun torch.

Sorry for listing all of this but just to explain where I'm at.. atm I have 8620 gp and just trying to figure out if I should get the keen rapier asap or if there are items I should look at right away. Plan to get as many reasonable wands and potions as possible.

Hmm not much of a idea? Leaning towards the keen rapier at this point to gain back panache. With the ability to gain literally any spell by potion was curious if there is something I should look at.

Grand Lodge

I liked getting Keen early. More criticals means more panache which means more Perry and repose.

Silver Crusade

You want a potion of Fly for use with Alchemical Allocation.

Yeah definitely plan on the keen and fly is on my list. Probably haste or the cleric version in a pinch. I'm thinking enhanced potion soon so i can drink a potion, make it my level and double the duration 4x per .. right now barkskin and heroism would be the big ones. Not sure if there is another spell i might want. Plan on alchemical allocation to be his go to.

Shadow Lodge

For magic items, you might want to consider Boro Beads to basically get additional extracts each day.

On the feat front, my swashtigator picked up Weapon Versatility at 3rd level: I encountered far too many creatures with DR/Slashing or DR/Bludgeoning at low levels (of course, your mileage may vary).

Grand Lodge

Weapon Versatility is a good choice I picked it up on mine as well.

I kept my strength high enough to get power attack once I got a strength belt. This is also handy for DR.

I like a wand of Bladelash.

Elixir of Spirit Sight is great with alchemical allocation.

Yeah I forgot about weapon versatility but then I realized why I dont have it. I play in PFS and I don't have the book or the license on hero lab, didn't think it was worth the $20. Yeah plan to save up for a couple of level 2 boro beads...I think I am obsessed with alchemical allocation :) On the bright side when buffed I'm at +14 to hit and 1D6+13 (2 of that is precision) I also carry a mw heavy mace in a pinch, thats why I keep the potion of bull str :)

I ended up making him with a str 13 for power attack, kinda glad I did.
The wand of blade lash does seem pretty nice. Getting ghost touch and see invisible could come in handy too.

Trying to go through spell lists but realizing there are a ton of spells (duh) Sense vitals and channel vigorlooks like it might be useful.

Grand Lodge

Versatile Weapon as oil is a good back up.

The ghost touch is weapons and armour it is a life saver. You can put potions in spring-loaded wrist sheaths which is great.

Remember personal spells cannot be potions so both those are out.

For an investigator I would honestly recommend picking up the inspired weapon enchant before keen. It's good right away and hella value once you get combat inspiration

Grand Lodge

The difference is panache gets you extra attacks and stops an attack, which is much better than a few times per day bump to attack roles.

I save inspiration to make sure I don't fail saves.

Blessing of Fervor isn't available as a potion, since it's a 4th lvl spell. I personally don't think the action economy is favorable for using haste with Alchemical Allocation.

Ack got confused thinking only personal spells for potions. Combat inspiration is level 9 so hoping i can get the inspired then. Typically i keep the wand of shield in a wrist sheath in case i really need defense. Feats kinda lost atm, been learning towards taking extra investigator talents and going that route.

So went with a keen rapier and finally picked up the potion of fly. Hit level 7 and not sure what to take yet for my feat. I do plan to get a wand of faerie fire to add to my list. Might finally break down and enchant my buckler so the wand of shield can maybe be moved out of the wrist sheath in favor of a wand of blade lash (I always seem to be stuck in the middle of a hallway with no way to move out.)

I can't remember your precise build but combat ref, if you start using long arm or swordmaster flair, works well. Extra Talent is also great. Expanded inspiration is a go-to for me.

I also love sickening strike with gloves of marking (the wizard will love you debuff saves and attacks) and everybody gets buffed when you crit which is now often.

There is also inspired alchemy which can be nice.

Origionally I wanted to go long arm and combat reflexes but then I was told that even though it added 5ft it wasn't considered reach so no extra attacks of opp.I planned to go sickening offensive next level (7 investigator/1 swash) Those gloves sound pretty nice. Expanded inspiration is nice too..honestly there are a ton of nice things I want to go with..honestly I'm thinking about going extra talents on top of feats. Currently I plan to rely on alchemical allocation already took extend potion so thats why I'm debating on going enhance potion.

Grand Lodge

Investigators are great. So, many options.

Too many options :) Tempting to go long arm and combat reflexes but that will mess up my plan. Was gonna take enhance potion so I start getting longer duration buffs (barkskin and heroism) then at level 8 I planned on sickening offensive..then expanded inspiration followed by combat inspiration :)

I think the enhance potion is gonna win out for my level 7 feat. Being able to get heroism and barkskin (+3 NA) for 2 hours is a huge boost. Combat reflexes is really nice and I really want to go that way, but I think it will have to take a back burner with this character. Going with deific obedience for +4 to all knowledge skills is also very nice but atm I'm thinking the boost to my 2 major buff spells might be worth it.
