Empowered spell metamagic feat

Rules Questions

Hey i just have a simple question to ask...

Alright so it say when you look at the empower spell description:
All variable, numeric effects of an empowered spell are increased by half including bonuses to those dice rolls.

Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables.

So does the 50% bonus it gives also work on the sorcerer orc bloodline arcana, which gives a +1 dmg per dice?

So it will either work like this. (maxed out fireball)
A: 10d6+10x1.5 (+10 is from the orc bloodline)

Or this.
B: (10d6 x 1.5) +10

which one?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In this case, it is A. That type of damage falls in "bonuses to those dice rolls" category of what is effected.

I believe it is an option you have not linked.

C. (10d6 + 10) x 1.5

Oh good lord, I must have been tired when I read this thread the first time...thank you for the correction.

here's the FAQ on Empower from 2011
thus Round down[(10d6 +10)*1.5]
in example if you rolled a sum of 35 on 10d6 it would be 45*1.5 or 67.5 rounded down to 67[fire] damage.

A nice way to remember it that I saw was this:

If you roll 1d6 + 5 your random number is not 1->6 +5.
It is 6->11. As such you take the whole random number (6->11) and empower that.
