Gunslinger 5 / Cavalier 3... and then what?

Advice

I have a halfling gunslinger who’s the leader of a dragoon/scout unit as the marshal in our kingmaker campaign. My GM is letting me use leadership to use a Worg puppy I found as a mount, basing the mount level off of my leadership value over the cavalier level, so after 3 levels of luring cavalier I’m not interested in much more that the class has to offer.

His role in the party when adventuring is the scout/navigator. But he also has his marshal duties to the kingdom when not adventuring. I’d like him to remain a non caster, so what would be some cool class/archetypes that would be pretty synergetic be?

9. Cavalier4 ...then spend a onerous (but not prohibitive) chunk of money and time using the Retraining Rules to retrain the Gunslinger levels to Cavalier 5-9). Get rid of the gun and pick up a Daikyu of Commanding Presence.

(This is assuming your halfling hasn't dumped his strength, which may be the case here. You might be able to convince the GM to let you reskin that into a repeating crossbow.)

Alternatively, and arguably even better, if you're not a bad dude and are reasonably charismatic, gradually retrain both existing classes into a uRogue4/PaladinX (it is a really sweet combination in a halfling package). Take note of the feats Fey Foundling and Greater Mercy, in conjunction with the halfling's alternative leveling bonus for paladin (+1hp per LoH rather than +1 hitpoint or +1 skillpoint).

Definitely dumped strength. I’m at 8/18/12/12/16/14 for my stat lineup. I’ve kind of formed him into a sniper as well.

Steadily retrain paladin w/at least one level of uRogue. Opalescent White Pyramid Ioun stone + Heavy Repeating Crossbow (halfling sized, of course). Or keep the gun, if you like it. Also pick up TWF and a pair of kukris or rapier+kukri or waveblades (if you fancy a second ioun for a better light weapon). Quick Draw lets you cycle everything nicely, and Piranha Strike to dish it out in melee.

What gunslinger archetype did you take?
Monk-2 offers a lot of defence (WIS to AC is nice when sleeping, but you also get bonus feats, evasion & good saves).
Slayer is probably a good offensive option.
Is there anything particular you're looking for? Any weaknesses you're trying to overcome or strengths you'd like to keep progressing? Any flavour you're looking for?

Sohei monk then flurry of blows with the gun.

firearms are not an eligible Sohei weapon group. Although I guess versatile design weapon modification a gunbow and it works, with a feat.

3 levels of weapon master fighter, pick one weapon training for guns sohei doesn't say it has to be only the monks weapon training that they can flurry with.

fair point, but that takes him until level 17 before it works. Weapon modification would allow flurry at 14, still a bit of a wait.

Does zen archer work with bowguns? Language says ‘bows’, which I think is reasonable to interpret as the “bows” Weapon group. In which case, I recommend 1 level of zen archer.

He has kind of a special forces feel to him, I’ve been out sniping and sabotaging armies as well as leading full on charges on horseback into the enemies face. I took the musket master archetype.

The thing I don’t like about him is that he brings little utility outside of scouting and survival, he just shoots everything like a tiny turret. Going into cavalier is giving him a bit of utility with teamwork feat and order of the paw,

Oh but the group does lack splash damage, I was planning on attempting to remedy it by mounting a culverin to my worgs armor and having him be the platform.

I am kind of liking the archer idea... I usually get so buffer up with enhanced cars grace and reduce person that my AC is well under what it should be because of my armor. I’ll definitley look into that. I have thought of doing ranger with the skirmished archetype or fighter just for the feats and to become better at sniping.
