In my experience, most prevents are poorly built. It's almost always better to play out of subtier than risk a pregen. But oobazaya seems quite robust from what I've seen.
As for my answer, I have to agree with Glen Parnell on all counts.
Though my results are biased. Our standard table is the GM and 3 players, so the GM NPCs oobazaya often as an extra sword arm to get us to the 4player adjustment in combat. He ignores her outside of combat though. [I suspect this is not normal or is frowned upon but it's hard to find a fourth and she's only there for combat.]

Iseph.
They have a great mix of combat prowess, skills, starship ability, and a background that's easy for new players to roleplay.
Obozaya.
Frontliners are hard to find and using a Pregen lessens the risk of character death. I do love her background the most and emphasize her choice of music on a starship.
Keskodai.
We call him "bug daddy" and he's usually the runner up choice if we already have an Operative and a frontliner. Dad jokes galore.

In my experience it is Obozaya. Despite Starfinder's greater emphasis on ranged combat, there is still a need for a strong front line meleer. Out of the pregens, only Obozaya and Alrtonis fit that bill. Out of those two, Obozaya is both a better meleer and a simpler character to run. Considering pregens are mostly used either for those players who are new to the game or for those running them as a table buddy in addition to either running the game or their own character, simple is a good plus. Unlike PFS, a healer, while simple, is no longer necessary due to the Stamina system, so the Mystic is not as appealing a choice as the Cleric in PFS. Finally, Soldier isn't one of the more popular builds in my region, so taking one as the table buddy is usually a good fill-out.

I should have included Ispeth as part of the #4 tie. I forgot them.
Altronus is somewhere around #9 or #10 choice wise - I am more likely to see 2 Obozyas at the table than 1 Altronus.
As for why Obozaya:
* Easy to comprehend backstory
* She comes in many colors
* Giant Lizards swinging fire axes are really cool
* Mechanics behind here character look very simple, but as you look at her more, you see more depth in her options
* Did I mention the Doshko?
* Tough frontliner
* She has massive melee damage, but decent ranged options as well
* Survival as a skill
* Did I mention that her picture was cool, and she has a fire axe?

Laura Shaw broke me up with a southern belle Obozya from "the Southern part of the Veskarium, darlin'."
But she does a russian voiced vesk on Pungeon Crawl, Thurston's online game that he's been broadcasting on Twitch.
I've seen all the pregens get use locally, with people selecting who they bring based on what the party lacks.
Hmm

I would assume... it was from a Con boon. ;)

A lot of the time recently I've been seeing a pregen at the table because of there only being 3 players, in which case we end up picking the one who best fills a skill gap. This often ends up being one of the two casters.
That is also how my group does it, though we usually end up with Iseph just because they have so many of the essential skills (computers, engineering, piloting).

To be fair, Obozaya is clearly from the Southern Veskarium, which has a bit different of an accent.
Northern Vesk is far more Eastern Bloc sounding.
Equatorial Vesk is... well... a linguistic experience.

SPACE DAD!
Love Kesokdai, also Obozaya (with Russian accent) is fantastic...
The Obozaya Russian accent has spread in our community...Skittermanders are from the Veskarium too...so they are Russian accented too...and they think (in my case) that everyone is equal...but Vesk are more equal than others, and Kasatha's are more equal too (almost the right amount of arms)!

I don't like Obozaya's build - crippled by lack of skills, while the scenarios emphasize skills quite a lot. But I like the spin-offs people have built, taking the essential character but tweaking the build to have more game outside combat.
Keskodai has been pretty well-received by new players, he's got some versatile skills that have allowed unbalanced parties to muddle through. But mostly it's "space dad" and the awesomeness of Mind Thrust at tier 1-2. Feeling powerful is a good feeling for people trying out the game.
