Sure you can. The weapon die is 1d8.

You wield this blade-like beam as if it were a scimitar... The blade deals 1d8 points of fire damage + 1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10).
Yes, you create something that is functionally a weapon and is wielded as a weapon that has damage dice of 1d8 (+1/2 caster level). Only the 1d8 gets multiplied, though.
Thats great. Sucks that it only adds a d8 though...
And I just found out you cant even use power attack. But I still like it.
Flame Blade is awesome, it's Vital Strike that sucks.
Let's say you're 10th level, fighting a CR10 enemy. The mode (most common value) AC across all Paizo monsters and NPCs is 24, while the mode touch AC is 13. Yes, you lose strength and power attack damage bonuses, but you gain an effective +11 to attack rolls!
