You're headed north along the road to Hergstag.
The road is bordered by swampy forest; visibility is fair out to about 50 feet, where the swampy forest gets too thick.....it's humid, and your clothes start to cling and stick.
The birds have gone all quiet. Never a good indicator, that.
Even the once talkative frogs have gone all quiet.
Perception......

You all pretty much see it. It stands up, off to the right, about as cunning as a herd of bovines,
its skin green and mottled, it considers you with empty black eyes.
Claws on gangly arms that reach to drag the ground, and fangs, and 9 feet tall,
it can only be a troll,
that thing of impulsive violence and naught else.
initiative:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
it rises up, and there will be no reasoning with it.
Larissa Brightfoot
Larissa begins casting, summoning Sarenrae's Scimitar to service once again. From the spell description, in case this matters, "It strikes as a spell, not as a weapon, so for example, it can damage creatures that have damage reduction." I don't know if that makes any different with regeneration - I don't think so.
Knowledge (Nature) aid another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Sarenrae's Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1 round used.
Lady Alinya Gurov
Did anyone roll initiative? If not: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22. EDIT - doh, ninja'd by the soulknife.
"Right. A little fire or acid every so often will keep it from healing. Other than that, we just need to pummel it into the ground."
Alinya sends a dart of glowing green towards the bestial troll from the tip of her newly acquired wand. Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13, damage 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5.
Edwin Drood
"Aw, well. Pummeling I like. Pummeling We can do." Edwin says with a smirk. He looks at his hands, as if surprised to find them filled with clay flasks. He shrugs, and almost casually tosses one towards the oncoming train,... er, troll.
Alchemist fire, ranged touch att? 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
If direct hit, 1d6 dmg, +1d6 dmg the next round)
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Thppppppt!
"Hm. Must have been a dud."
dungeonmaster heathy
The tiny insect man opens up the show, slamming a psychic dagger into its neck.
It bleeds, but you can see the wound pulsing and wiggling like a bag full of crabs, allready knitting itsself back up.
The scimitar doesn't connect at all this time......
And it shrieks horribly when Alinya gives it a good blast with her new wand.
Edwin lights it on fire. Maybe it'll catch more; it doesn't seem to like it though.
8 temp (regenerable) so far;
6 permanent to the bastich.
Rholfy's up to bat.
Rholf Kastigarr
Rholf draws his warhammer as the thing approaches and, hefting his shield, takes a quick couple of steps to meet the thing, swinging hard at it.
+1 Warhammer Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
His timing apparently all mung'd up, he over-commits, missing badly.
"Bah!"
dungeonmaster heathy
Rholf goes up and closes on the bastich; he indeed misses though in his nervousness.
The troll retorts.
It bites and misses, but hits with two claws and rends. Rholf takes 24 hp in damage.
Group's attack.
When the fire, and acid, hit, you notice that the thing stops knitting up its wounds.
so it's taken 14 hp damage; it's not healing.
Lady Alinya Gurov
"Oh Rholf!" Alinya cries out as her companion is badly injured in the first seconds of the troll's attack. "Let's see if I can slow it down." The grey robed wizard gestures, commanding arcane forces to her service, and a ray of black light spears from her outstretched hand to the troll.
Ongoing damage from acid arrow (round 2/2): 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Cast ray of exhaustion: touch attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12. Effect: Exhausted, DC 18 Fort save partially negates to Fatigued.
An exhausted character moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity. After 1 hour of complete rest, an exhausted character becomes fatigued. A fatigued character becomes exhausted by doing something else that would normally cause fatigue.
Larissa Brightfoot
Larissa casts Cure Moderate Wounds before moving up to Rholf (S7, please) to apply Sarenrae's blessing on him.
Healing for Rholf: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 7) + 5 = 15
Brilliant choice on the ray of exhaustion, dear Alinya - no full attack, no more nasty rends, yes?
Edwin Drood
Trolls are nasty-wasty. We don't usually use them till higher level. At 2nd we usually get stomped by an ogre. :)
I think a full move can get me to S8, where I think I can just reach the troll with my whip. Yes?
Edwin dashes forward, his left hand still holding an alchemical bottle, his right uncoiling his magic whip with a snap.
"Excuse me dear," He says politely as he leans past Larissa and snaps the whip at the trolls legs,...
Trip attempt:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
"Don't just stand there," He calls over his shoulder as he tugs valiantly on the whip, trying to cause the monster to topple.
"Somebody HIT the blasted thing!"
Rholf Kastigarr
Edwin, That one shot shaved off almost 75% of Rholf's hit points... Good times!
Rholf wobbles in place for a brief moment, until Larissa's healing hits him. Snapping out of the shock he'd been in, Rholf takes another shot at the abomination...
+1 Warhammer Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Good grief! lol
"Gah!"

Edwin gets to T8 with a charge...closest he needs to get to reach with the whip; Edwin don't want to get in this things face......
Ed puts the bastard on the ground all Indiana Jones style.
Edwin Drood
Rules question, can an AoO be a maneuver (another Trip attempt?) or must it be a regular attack? If it can be a trip, I'll try that again to keep him down, otherwise, alchemist fire to the face! :)
"Thank you. Although I'd be much happier if it would STAY down!"
Ouch Rholf! Fortunately at least you had that many to get hit with. :/ Also fortunately, Ed is also right behind you, and can heal if needed. :) right now his main goal is to try to keep this thing down so it can't hit you again. ;D
Larissa Brightfoot
And at risk of being 'that guy', you don't threaten with your alchemist's fire because it is a ranged weapon. The whip is the only option.
And none of these remarks matter unless Heathy agrees because Rule 0 always supercedes.
I did not realize the Spiritual Weapon could be used for an AoO, but the spell does not specify, so...
Sarenrae's Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Here's hoping the AC adjustment to being prone helps me out.
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 But with that damage, it may not really matter.
