Howdy.
So. i'm the weirdo who adores throw builds.
In p1 shurikens, and darts, were drawn as free actions like Ammo. Which really did allow you to actually throw them. (though goodluck enchanting them except for the ammo bag spell in p1).
In the playtest, Darts and Shurikens are both listed in the equipment list. but there are no descriptions of them according to Ctrl F.
On their table their reload is listed as -. Where as crossbows list 1 or 2 actions, and bows list 0 actions. In this case the 0 effectively means Free Action right? Oririginally I read the "-" meaning it was not any action to reload.. because they're thrown weapons. and it would be a free action to draw them. That assumption was due to my legacy mind set for Shurikens. and the fact that Darts are ammo in the first place. I think???? all ammo are free action drawing (loading them however takes actions)
Earlier in the equipment section it specified
"An item with an entry of “—” must be drawn to be
thrown, which usually takes an Interact action just like
drawing any other weapon. Reloading and drawing
a thrown weapon both require a free hand. When you
spend the last action required to reload a weapon you’re
holding, as part of that action, you can place your hands
in the grip necessary to wield the weapon normally."
So.. does this mean that "-" takes an interact action to pull out the shuriken or dart? Effectively taking 1 action to do so?
Why is that not just listed as a 1 then like hand crossbows?
If it does take one interact action to draw and ready to throw.. I have to ask why it takes the same amount of time to pull out a shuriken or a dart as it does to reload a hand crossbow, while pulling out a larger arrow and knocking it is apparently far easier.
Since in P2, it is basically "if your using the correct number of hands for the item, you are effectively wielding it" then it should not really take any extra actions to "ready" the dart/shuriken past picking it up..
Sooo..
Someone with more head for this stuff (or at least isn't brain dead tired as I am) mind chimming in with their experience and help me figure this out?
I really, dearly, want to make a Shield using, kicking, dart/bomb throwing Alchemist. I realize that eventually one can just use an enchanted Dagger of returning.. but I don't really want to until I have to. (and sadly I think i absolutely have to? Or well maybe i could just enchant a dart?)

Secondary question.
Is ammo even destroyed after use in this edition? I didn't see and can't find any mention of it in the book at all.. but there is a lot going on.
How about magical ammo?
and am I correct in that you can only enchant a stack of 10 ammo at once?
This is vital if darts/shuriken do count as ammo.
I guess. if they don't count as ammo, then one could just enchant the hell out of just one of them and put returning on it...
but that is weird.
Really should make some gloves or bracer that enchants thrown items. bombs and everything that doesn't have a prexisting enchant.
