I'm running a 7 Cha bad touch Cleric (Deity Sivanah). I will be right on the front lines. I was wondering if it would simply be better to grab a variant channel instead of the traditional channel energy.
I rarely ever can see myself using channel energy in combat, if an ally is down to 4hp I would probably just spontaneously cast a Cure spell. So I came to the conclusion maybe I can get some value out of this variant channeling power. I came across two that I found interesting.
1) Rulership: Harm - Creatures are dazed for 1 round. This could work well, our wizard could get off a nice aoe spell to finish them off.
2) Strategy: Harm - Creatures may not take attacks of opportunity until the end of your next turn.
3) Farming: Heal - Creatures ignore fatigue (but not exhaustion) for 1 minute. (We have a barbarian in our party)
What are your thoughts on these two? I'm leaning towards Strategy just because we have enough offensive weapons in our arsenal. Strategy could save a party member when they are on the front line and need to run but will provoke if they do.

The main issue with this is the saving throw. With 7 CHA it is going to be really low and you won't be able to use it often either.
So it is, at level 1, one use per day with a DC of 8. You will also be doing less damage, making an already unattractive option even more so. If you do not build for Channel Energy it will not do well. If you build against it then it is terrible.
As for those particular options, Rulership is like Strategy+ since Dazed creatures can't take attacks of opportunity and can't take other actions.
