So, I've been looking at the armor list and I like to slap the system around like it my plaything. One interesting note I was noticing is that even though it's classified as Masterwork on it's own, Hellknight Plate still has it's own separate entry... with a lower Armor Check Penalty than regular Full Plate. Would this stack with the bonuses from Mithral, granting Mithral Hellknight Plate a lower ACP than normal Mithral Full Plate?
I mostly ask because it's kind of an interesting idea to have what amounts to half-plate with an ACP of 1, once you also factor in the Nimble armor modification...

No, it wouldn't. Hell knight plate is already masterwork. Masterwork bonus is already included in the Mithral bonus.
Quote:Apart from its distinctive look (each order of Hellknights has its own style of armor), a suit of Hellknight plate functions the same as a suit of masterwork full plate.
The problem here is that it has a separate armor profile from regular armor, and a cost that is significantly more than Full Plate + Masterwork. From my interpretation, all that REALLY says is that, since it's already masterwork, you can't make it more masterwork. Guess it's a question for my GM.

It functions as masterwork plate, it doesn'tdoesn't say it is masterwork.
Correct. When discussing how it functions, how it works, the answer is "As masterwork full plate". When discussing what it costs or how it looks "Hellknight Plate".
The problem here is that it has a separate armor profile from regular armor, and a cost that is significantly more than Full Plate + Masterwork.
And? It is ornately decorated. A couple hundred gold is not 'significant'.
Is it a question for your GM? Of course, everthing is ultimately. But is "hey, they listed this item on a table, and if you ignore the description, the flavor, and the obvious intent, going completly off the table entry, you can do something munchkiny" really the battle you want to pick? Seems to be a dick move to me.
To each their own, I guess.

The question is answered by the answer to this question.
To make +1 hellknight plate do you need to make it masterwork paying an additional 150gp to the price shown or not.
If it's already masterwork plate and thus can't be more masterwork then you don't need to pay the masterwork fee before you can get a +1 on it. And thus mithral doesn't reduce 3 but 2 since masterwork was already included.
if it's not masterwork plate but something else that can be made masterwork then pay the extra for the +1 and then mithral works fine since it's not already masterwork.
The answer I think is correct is the 1st. You're paying extra for your brand name, but it's just masterwork plate and thus mithral can't double dip.

My GM agreed to allow me to participate in "tournaments"... inside an AMF, because he sees my Armor of Bones as being "cheaty." And my True Crystalline sword. In fairness, he's right on the second one but the darn thing was HIS suggestion. So, yeah, I wanna be a butt right back to him. :P
