Bead of Summoning

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Sovereign Court

I have a player in my AoW campaign who is interested in a sort of "save game" item so he is asking about beads of summoning. Never having had a player in my 20+ years of DMing use one of these things I am curious what people might think this would summon. A servant of the wielders god is kinda vague.
Should this perhaps be something that scales with level? O', kinda leaning to having it summon the gods herald, but as they are all level 11 and it is I believe in the lvl 15 range that might be pushing it. So, I am curious what other people might think that this thing does.

If it matters, it is a lvl 11 Inquisitor of Erastil that is asling.

Does he mean the one that's part of this item?

Sovereign Court

Yes. He has a strand of them and the summoning bead happened to be on it. It was part of the modules treasure so I never really gave it much thought.

I'm going to post the relevant text from the bead of summons before I say what I think it does.

Quote:
(If the wearer uses the bead of summons to summon a deity's emissary frivolously, the deity takes that character's items and places a geas upon him as punishment at the very least.)

Based upon that, I think the bead of summons actually would summon a deity's herald or some other outsider that represents a deity. Failing an actual deity, it would be an outsider of an appropriate alignment who would act as a representative of that general alignment.

So, I think you're right as to what it does.
