Of all the many Disney movies I've ever seen, none have cried out more loudly for a sequel than The Incredibles. I mean... come on! It's modeled after a medium that typically comes out with another story every month for decades and decades!
And the premise was... well, incredible. When I first saw the movie, I realized that this was what the Fantastic Four SHOULD have been, right from the get-go: a husband, a wife, AND THEIR CHILDREN. Originally, the Fantastic Four weren't exactly a family. Reed and Sue weren't married yet, and Ben wasn't related to any of the others. And how is it that Robin joined Batman in 1940, but Damian Wayne didn't become the regular Robin until 2010?! Before 2010, my young children originally assumed that Robin was Batman's son until I informed them otherwise - that's how obvious the idea is. So how is it that the idea of a REAL superhero family never occurred to me until I saw The Incredibles? Or for another example, Kid Flash got introduced in 1959, yet the Tornado Twins never (as far as I know) became the Flash's regular sidekicks, and Impulse - Barry Allen's true progeny - didn't get introduced until 1994! And so on.
And I'd call The Incredibles one of my 3 favorite Disney movies - and one of my 8 favorite superhero movies - of all time.
So yeah... the potential for this sequel to be good - as well as its potential for being bad - is tremendous. But it HAD to be made!

Okay, I just saw the second trailer. I... hope that they work as a team in the sequel; that was supposed to be the whole point of the first movie. The trailer makes it look like Elasti-Girl does the hero work while Mr Incredible stays home and takes care of the kids. But I trust the movie will get better after that. <crosses fingers>

I almost wish there wasn't a sequel.
It was a favorite, but I'm not sure how they can live up to it.
Sure, it's a superhero story and superhero comics are an episodic medium, but it wasn't really an episode kind of story.
It's not obvious where to go from the end that isn't just "here's another adventure". And they didn't have anything planned or we would have seen it long ago. Hopefully they've come up with something brilliant and haven't just decided to cash in.

I expect it will be more than just "here's another adventure", because Pixar doesn't make sequels just for the sake of making sequels. But if it is just another adventure, I'd be fine with that... because it will be another adventure with THE INCREDIBLES! <badly sings theme song> Duh-duh duh duh-duh, duh-duh-duh duh duh duh! <clears throat> Okay, I'll stop now.

Well technically they made Cars 2 and 3 and Finding Dory...cringe.
I hope it is good, I hope it makes a lot of money, and I hope it opens the door for a third movie that takes less then 6 years to come out.
Maybe one day we will find out what happened to all those super villains that mysteriously vanished when super heroes became illegal.

You mean less than 14 years

The trailer makes me think its not going to have that same kind of epic feel to it as the last one. Seems like half the movie is going to be Mr. I taking care of jakjak. Maybe their just keeping the trailer from spoiling anything. That would be a welcome change for trailers.
Well, half the first movie was his boring job and her taking care of the kids. I suspect we're going to see a bit of an inversion - her doing the hero gig instead of him, getting in trouble and the family coming to the rescue.

I think this is probably what they are going for... I hope it's not an exact repeat of the first one just with Helen in the superhero gig rather than Bob, but I do think the premise is probably going to be similar. I expect there may also be a subplot where, based on the family conversation they showed in the trailer, the kids may sneak off or something to try to be heroing because the family isn't heroing together, and the inevitable resolution will be everyone finding a way for them to hero together in spite of needing to keep Jack-Jack safe.
Honestly I have a feeling the trailer is only showing earlyish scenes from the movie and they're saving the rest to avoid spoilers.

I'm seeing a complete inversion based on current environment, almost as if this could not have been fully green-lighted if the events of the past couple of years wouldn't have enabled it.
The executive that 'wants to bring heroes back' seems almost as conceited as Frozone yet in a bit of a different direction, and there may be a dynamic there much as the first movie's interactions between Bob and Frozone's representative?

I would think at least someone other then me would be interested. Well at least I enjoyed the the trailer.

** spoiler omitted **
I loved the first Incredibles, and am certainly psyched for another run. I suspect that hype would be stronger if it hadn't taken so long to get the sequel going (and if so many incredible superhero movies hadn't been released during the interim).
The spoiler stuff is totally cool, I haven't heard anything about the new supers, but they sound fun.

I have long found that people don't post much on this site on weekends. When I want to post something on a Friday - unless it's fairly early in the morning - I typically wait until Monday afternoon to do it.
Anyway, my son made me watch the trailer yesterday. (He loves watching previews, commentaries, and parodies on YouTube. He seems to prefer that stuff over watching the movies themselves! Go figure.)
Anyway, this trailer somewhat alleviated my concern (which I expressed in my second post on this thread). It looks like the rest of the family will get into SOME of the action, at least.

I got the impression it'll be kind of the reverse of the first one - ElastiGirl gets the job, starts doing the early action stuff, then everyone else gets drawn in for the main sequences.

Saw INCREDIBLES 2 lat night with my son. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first one and it's nowhere as good as the first movie. That being said it IS a good and very enjoyable sequel. I felt that the first half was a little casually paced but there's a certain point in the movie where it kicks into high gear and it gets GOOD. Elastigirl is pretty much the lead character in this. Swap Helen and Bob's roles from the first movie and you basically get THIS movie. Jack Jack is the MVP.
I'm definitely buying this on Bluray and I kinda want to see it again.

Just saw this finally. Really, really enjoyed it. Likewise the audience was laughing aloud a lot and having fun. If anything I think the trailer lets it down a little. Just like the first movie in being a fun family comedy meets superhero romp, but with some subversive ideas underneath.
I think the Incredibles-verse is one of my favorite world-builds for a supers universe.
Stay through the credits, first because you should sit a minute for all those animators' names to go by because they worked their asses of and deserve you sit still for a second while their names flash by, and second because you'll...
... hear the three adult superheroes' theme songs, which are awesome.

And please sit through the credits even when you think there isn't a cool after credits sequence. I think it's nice to pay attention, even if for a flash of a second, to all the people who worked hard to make a movie I enjoyed work. (The reason end-credits sequences exist is indeed because directors make them to help their crews' credits get seen.)

I'm pretty sure Mr. Incredible's theme is intended to specifically be inspired by that deeply lyricked tune. (With the "Pow! Pow! Pow!" Referencing the Biff Bop Pow graphics in the opening sequence/fight scenes.)
Frozone's obviously riffs of "Shaft" and Elastigirl's "Wonder Woman" (especially with the horns) and maybe a little bit the Batgirl theme they also played from time to time on the Adam West show. As compositions go I think they actually are very clever homages while being quite good on their own (simplistic themes notwithstanding (hell, I like the old Batman theme for what it is).

I've been to the movie theater 3 times in the last 13 years, and one of those 3 times was two days ago, when I took my kids to see Incredibles 2.
I was wrong about one thing: It WAS just another adventure. And you know what? That's a GOOD thing! Again, the movie was SCREAMING for a sequel! And if the sequel had gone in a bold new direction, there would be a danger of taking it in the WRONG direction. If there would be many more sequels that were just more adventures, that would be GREAT! Again, that's the sort of story The Incredibles is supposed to be.
Will I regard Incredibles 2 as one of my FOUR favorite Disney movies and one of my NINE favorite superhero movies of all time? The jury's still out on that one, but there's a good chance of it!

If Elastigirl was a country singer...
(Also, WOW this girl is freaking talented...)
