Abyssal or Draconic Bloodline

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Silver Crusade

So long story short. Im working on a bloodrager build where I need cleave as a feat and that pretty much narrows my choices down to Abyssal or Draconic.

I doubt i will get elemental unless someone can convince me it isn't total garbage.

But between the 2 which one is better. I'm veering towards abyssal but draconic has some good points too.

If you pick up Cleave as a bonus feat, you will have to wait until level 6. That's coincidentally the level where you get a second attack with your mainhand - a 'free' option that competes with Cleave (even while both still have their place). Personally, I'd take the feat quite early - or not at all.

Yeah but I'd like more of a vital strike build. I wanna focus on increasing my accuracy and mobility over raw damage. And getting a +1 Impact Greatsword on top of being able to use enlarge person on myself whenever i want. I won't have any shortage of damage.

The other thing a lot of people seem to forget with full attacks is that you kinda go in assuming all of them will hit.

At level 11 at best 2 of them are going to connect on average, the 3rd one is very likely to miss.

And theres also the cleaving hand weapon trick.

Oh and you still never answered my question, you just kinda pointed out why you think cleave sucks.

Which is better really depends on how you want to use it. For the Rager Smash build, Abyssal is probably better because of the Strength bonus and free Enlarge, but Draconic adds more flexibility. Namely, it adds Defenses (Nat Armor), Flight, and that pretty decent Breath Weapon eventually. So it really comes down to which do you value more, raw damage or utility?

Definitely Utility.

So you'd probably want to go Draconic then, because Abyssal itself gives very little utility.
