Bracers of Falcon's Aim replacement

Advice

With the nerfing of BoFA, what are your suggestions as a replacement for a Heavy Crossbow wielding Ranger?

Lessor Bracers of Archery, Eyes of the Eagle and Improved Critical would work, but that is +3,500 GP and an additional feat (or ask your gm nicely if you can use the old version).

Don't buy bracers of lesser archery unless you are 100% sure you are going to upgrade them in general.

For you they don't work for a crossbows.

"They empower the wearer to use any bow (not including crossbows)"

Pale Green Prism, cracked is is cheaper and better as it is slot less. Get some delinquency gloves to fill that slot.

...Aren't gloves a hand item?

Good call. Thanks for the fact check.

*salute*

I'm not sure what would be a good bracer, but I am watching this with interest for my own reasons.

Grand Lodge

Most are bad. Some are good for grapplers, paladins, cavilier, or bards.

Bands of Unbreakable Camaraderie - if you have bad will.

Arrow masters bracers are ok but pretty overpriced.

I think it I'll keep buying sleeves of many garments.

The deliquescent gloves don't sound like they were intended for ranged weapons. Are we sure that their bonus would work on my bolts?

Grand Lodge

"If the wearer uses that hand to wield a weapon or make an attack with an unarmed strike or natural weapon, that attack gains the corrosive weapon special ability."

Wield a weapon + corrosive which is a melee and ranged weapon ability.

I guessing that the damage from the delinquency gloves would NOT "double" with a confirmed critical? It would act more like the "flame" enchantment.

Grand Lodge

Correct

I assume that the actual topic of discussion here is Deliquescent Gloves, not Delinquency Gloves, correct?

I am getting some weird ideas about just what Delinquency Gloves would do. I guess they would be cursed items that force any character who is below the middle-aged category to engage in criminal behavior?

Grand Lodge

Correct. Phone keyboard created an awful item.

So I know this thread has been dormant for year, but I'm confused: Why they didn't just increase price of Bracers of Falcon Aim? Current version is kinda useless when compared to bracers of archery, while original version was too good for its price. So they could have just made the braces more expensive

If they changed the price to match the ability (ca 10,000), then every adventure path or module that has the Bracers as loot would have to account for the increased gold given to the PCs. The layout of the book they appear in would also have to change since the Bracers now belong to a different magic item group and would be in a different order.

So it is highly preferable to not increase the price, since that would result in the least amount of consequences. The problem is that they erred on the site of caution when nerfing them, making them the equivalent of a magic item worth 360 gp (1st lv spell, Use-activated, one charge per day).

If they had made it command word with unlimited charges and CL 2, then it would have had a duration of two minutes and an estimated cost of 3600 gp.

Huh. Well that makes sense. Anyhoo, I'm gonna just house rule the item since pointless or useless items just feel unsatisfying. In general I'm planning to research items that have been nerfed since I kinda feel like lot of items got nerfed just because of PFS(like Jingasa of fortunate soldier isn't bad in campaign play since its just once per day crit negation. Only reason it was nerfed was because everyone at PFS had a silly hat)

Like I also don't get why ring of continuation got nerfed since 1) its expensive 2) you can only use it on one personal spell at a time 3) 10 minute spells stay for hours anyway, so there is no real point in making them 24 hour spells.
