Need help with another Pc. Spear and shield build

Advice

OK so I've join another game hosted by my friends older Brother and I like help with the character image I have.

In my mind I am picturing a Tall Muscular white hair man with silver eyes, who wields a large (not tower) Shield in his left hand and a Spear or some pole-arm in the other. I picture him in very heavy armor and The word unbreakable is tied to his name.

The Game is a 20 point buy
Two Traits allowed
Race can be any as long as its not over the top like something really powerful.

I am leaning towards One of two builds

(1) Phalanx solider(4) Sacred shield(2) stalwart defender(2)

(2) Phalanx solider(4) Shield champion (4)

I'll be Honest I am not sure if either are viable but i know i want to Be able to use both the shield and the spear/pole-arm as weapons and Be very much a tank

Shield brace feat is your friend here, and may serve you better than something that replaces weapon training.

oh? I'll take a look but of the two builds what are better

say I just do regular fighter, take shield Brace and go in to the paths for one of the build i thought up. what would be better?

Shield Brace is really good; you even count as two-handing the spear while still wielding a shield, so you do superb damage still.

I'd do full fighter (no archetypes) if I just wanted an armored warrior; make sure to pick up a bunch of shiny Advanced Weapon Training options as you climb the levels.

That said, if you really wanted a tough mofo, I'd go barbarian or bloodrager with the Armored Hulk or Steelblooded archetypes respectively.

Those really can't be beat when it comes to staying in the fight. Paladin is a good candidate as well.

If you go with shield brace, don't forget the new Versatile Design weapon modification so that you can use greatswords or flails as polearms though if you use a martial weapon you'll have to pick up Weapon Adept to be proficient with your new monstrosity.

what would you recommend for a build lay out?

I am also using this as an Npc in a game i'll be Hosting as Guild mate for my players though a bit higher in level than my Pc version

Well, unbreakable to me says samurai, maybe Yojimbo, and either warrior or ronin

They can do amazing things about staying alive, shaking off will saves, fort saves, and even being negative hit points.

Shield brace covers to polearm group, which covers the Naginata. Thats a reach weapon lile a spear but with a x4 crit mod. Very impressive.

Feats like Unconquerable Resolve will actually give you hit points for using resolve. Meaning you could actually drop into negative hit points, decide to act and GAIN hitpoints!

While you won't have the base damage of the fighter, you will enjoy challenge, which does really well for damage, and chain challenge feat at 7th solves it's limited uses a day.

Yojimbo gives a lot of protective abilities, like body guard on friends, or armour specialties like a fighter gets.

Basically it screams "2 handed guy that's hard to drop that uses a shield too."

What do you think?

If I was going Samurai it would be something like

Spoiler:

TRAIT: FAITH: PROTECTIVE FAITH. +1 TO A.C. ON AID ANOTHER
Trait 2: ?
Race human
Worshipper of Torag,
Samurai Yojimbo Archtype
Order: Warrior
Feats
1. Shield Focus
1. (Human) Unconquerable resolve
3. Shield brace
4. Body Guard (free)
5. Power attack
6. Weapon focus (free) or Advanced Armour
7. Chain Challenge

Giving your friends extra +4 a.c. against an attack, having reach and a tonne of great tricks to stay alive and keep friends alive.

I'd go mithril shield.
