Space Goblins as Player Characters?

General Discussion

I have a player in my group interested in playing a Space Goblin, what stats and resiurce can I use to let him try?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here you go from Alien Archive.

A whole Goblin PC Group could be vastly entertaining (with the right players)!

Not sure if I'd want to do a whole campaign of that, but fun for a while.

I am running Dead Suns in Starfinder Society Campaign mode and the entire group is Space Goblins. It is working out fine.

i have a player running one that acts like a cowbow he is bonded with his wifes dragonkin whom he rides into battle ...its pretty fun

In addition to in play resources, I highly recommend he read the book Goblin Quest for character inspiration.

A person in my group has a level 10 Goblin Operator... his base move is something like 105 and a 24 dex. It's pretty sick, especially considering he still has yet to upgrade to the mk3 suspension and with the mk3 personal upgrade will have a 30 dex (this is on top of all the other typical operator skills).

If I did my math right, a base move of 105 ft per round (6 seconds) comes out to something just over 11 MPH... that means, when he's sprinting (taking the Run action or whatever, he is running at 44 MPH... about half again as fast as the fastest human alive (~ 28 MPH) and that's just at level 10.

He'll be off the hook at lvl 15 when he can get up to 125 base speed, that puts him at 14 MPH base speed or 56 MPH sprinting...

To put that in perspective, if you were to go out jogging, you'd probably be running anywhere from 4-7 MPH.

That's one fast little monkey.

2 things...

1) How in the world does he have 105 move speed?

2) You're not stacking personal upgrades, right? Because they don't, and the only way I can see that someone could have 24 Dex at 10 is with at least a +4 Upgrade (as well as 18 base and both level upgrades) which would then make replacing it with a +6 upgrade puts it up to 26 rather than 30.

I can answer 1: Space Golbin base speed 35 + Quick Movement Operative ability (+20 @ lvl 10), improved quick movement talent (+20 @10), fleet feat (+10), Speed Suspension Cybernetic upgrade (standard, +20). Both the Speed suspension and Quick movement increase to +30 By level 15.

As only the speed suspension system has a typed bonus, I am assuming they all stack, although I wouldn't be surprised if Quick movement becomes an enhancement bonus somewhere down the line, in SFS at the very least.

No clue where the 30 dex is coming from.

Goblins be runnin, son!

I created a Space Goblin Mechanic Ace Pilot for my Starfinder Society character. Fun to play and it’s great for character interaction while roleplaying.

There is a gobin boon? Where did you get it?

I don't play SFS, so you probably want someone to confirm, but I remember reading that there was an Alien Archive boon that let you pick races from the AA.

My group doesn't know it yet but they are fixing to meet the smug "older brother" team in Starfinder Society that swoops in to save there butts or jack up a mission if it gets in the way of theirs. That teams' pilot is a 5th level Operative Ace Pilot Space Goblin named Whoa!Whoa!. I. Can't. Wait.
