Quest: Into the Unknown - Pregens only?

Do you have to play a pregen when playing this quest series, or can you bring your own level 1 PC?

The quest series was opened up to regular PCs after GenCon. I’m now trying to find the link for that, though.

I think it was the other way around: the Quest series was restricted to Pre-Gens for GenCon, open to any by default. So we didn't have to rules check as much when GMing the first couple of days.

I did allow a couple people to play their own PCs at GenCon at the quest tables I ran on Saturday. Maybe I should not have but everyone still had fun.
