Advice

So trying to plan out my wish list and running into some issues. I was looking at a circlet of persuasion for the +3 cha skills but then I saw the lore needle takes the same spot. I'm really thinking I have a lot on my list. I also thought there was a masterpiece to help on knowledge checks. I plan to use a wand of heighten awareness, once I get a haversack I plan to get a collection of chronicles and am currently trying to get at least one point in each knowledge. This is for PFS

To clarify, I'm wondering if it is worth getting the circlet of persuasion until I can afford the bracers of the glib performer and then the lore needle with the int head band. Losing a couple thousand in the process, but getting the boost for a few levels

It's impossible to say, because there is so much variation between scenarios. I wouldn't bother myself, but I probably wouldn't use that needle either, just because of how gross that is.

I skipped the circlet and waited.

Sovereign Court

One of the adventure chronicle sheets (I don't recall which) gives you access to a Lesser Circlet of Persuasion that only costs 2000gp and gives +2 instead of +3. Just figured I'd throw that out there, in case value is important to your decision.

I agree I'm not a huge fan of a needle in the head but I feel the skald is a bit tight on skill points so trying to make them all count. I thought there was a masterpiece that helps with skills or am I wrong

Like the bard, the skald gets virtual skill points. Bardic Knowledge means that you don't need to put any ranks in knowledge to be ok at those skills, but if you want to use some ranks, you can be exceptional at an area of knowledge. And versatile performance lets you use 1 skill rank to level up 2 additional skills.

So, while the skald doesn't get a ton of skills, it operates as if it had a lot.

Agreed but the intelligence headband maxes one and needle let's me roll at max 3x. Add I a wand of heightened awareness, heroism and then a couple books and he should be solid on knowledge. Glib performer gives me +5 to perform, hence my social skills and day job.

This is basically how I run my skald and I have had no trouble with knowledge checks. I did also take Lay of Scholar-King (Oratory, Sing) this allows me to Cha to knowledge checks. I mostly use it out of combat.

One rank in each Knowledge is a good start.

From there, find the ones worth maxing out (arcana, local, or religion usually) and keep investing in them. The +4 from a single rank and class skill goes a long way when you get half ranks for free anyway.

A PFS skald thread! What a treat.

Will the lore needle stack with the bonuses from Heightened Awareness (ie. "+2 competence bonus on ... all Knowledge checks that you are trained in")? If my trained Knowledge Religion is +14 and I cast Heightened Awareness, could I RAW use the needle to attempt an untrained Knowledge Nobility check at +16?

And since all the skalds are rocking out here, I wanted to ask a separate rules question (without intending to derail): how do y'all (and your PFS GMs) interpret the "1 full round" casting time for Spell Kenning? Is it a full-round action that completes on your current turn, like spontaneous-cast metamagic? Or a one round casting time that completes at the beginning of your next turn, like a summoning spell?

As for the needle, I don't see why you wouldn't apply heightened awareness sooo the +16 could be used 3x per day.

Full round casting would be the same as summoning you start it in one round and ends on your turn.

So right now this character is level 2 and he is going with a Mw agile breastplate, bardiche, ioun torch (half orc with no darkvision) mw backpack, wayfinder and used PP for a wand of cure and wand of heightened awareness. Since I need so many things I'm trying to figure out the route to go.
So far my thought is to get a cracked opalescent white pyramid to gain prof with a fauchard. Then get the said fauchard (end goal is to get a +1 furious bloodsong) I will need a haversack and my library of pathfinder chronicles. The lore needle,I might go with the idea of maxing a knowledge skill and skip the int headband for a bit and go for cha. The bracer of the glib and I'm sure im drawing a blank atm
