Couple of melee class questions

At level 20, what melee class has the best average damage output

Second what would you say would be strongest melee build that be done with a lv 20 build?

Barbarians, bloodragers, fighters, and unchained monks all deal great damage. Usually two-handed weapon builds are the strongest.

However, when choosing a martial class to play, usually the most important question is what else the class can do.

AM BARBARIAN is the strongest 20th level martial there is. His RAGELANCEPOUNCE pierces the heavens.

best average DPR would require pounce or maybe spirited lance charges
that would put it as likely the viking fighter or barbarian or primalist bloodrager, maybe avenger vigilante or Cavalier or paladin.
now highest DPR on a full attack that doesn't require moving could be much different.

in all honesty the highest dpr is a multiclassed mutt with dips into multiple different martial classes

It depends on what you mean by "strongest". Paladins put out great DPR against evil creatures which is what most parties fight. In addition they can do other useful things such as remove negative effects, and heal party members. Barbarians can be built to have utility outside of combat, and put up great numbers.

Sometimes strength lies outside of DPR. Casters are an example of this.
