Is there a magus type for divine casters ?

Advice

Hi All,

I've been looking at the magus class, and some of the abilities look pretty cool, but I was wondering if there was an equivalent in the divine caster area.

We like to have back up characters so game play isn't slowed down a lot, so we have a paladin, a ranger, a sorcerer and a ninja.... I am currently playing a cleric.

Just wondering if anybody has built one using the standard paizo rulebooks ?

I like the idea of delivering spells via weapons..

I thought about the reach cleric, but would prefer not to get that close.

Cheers

The closest thing to a divine magus would be the warpriest. However, they don't get anything akin to spellstrike as far as I know.

That's "sort of" the intent of the Warpriest, with them being able to cast buffs on themselves while attacking without provoking.

Ascetic Oracles can get spellstrike, but it only works with unarmed.

Sovereign Court

Phantom Blade spiritualists have it sort of... if you squint and look at them sideways their spell list looks sort of divine. And they have spellstrike/combat and a sort of black blade.

Dark Archive

Clerics and other channeling classes can use their channel through their weapon (with a weapon with the grayflame enchantment or a consecrated weapon) or use the Channel Smite feat.

Ascetic Oracles have spell strike but not spell combat but they are more themed as monks than magi.

If you worship Torag and play a warpriest, the feat Blessed Hammer fills this gap.

At Magus 6 you can take,

Broad Study (Ex): The magus selects another one of his spellcasting classes. The magus can use his spellstrike and spell combat abilities while casting or using spells from the spell list of that class. This does not allow him to cast arcane spells from that class's spell list without suffering the normal chances of arcane spell failure, unless the spell lacks somatic components. The magus must be at least 6th level and must possess levels in at least one other spellcasting class before selecting this arcana.

Then you just need a divine class.

Hmm, has anyone tried a Magus 6+ / Cleric 3 / Mystic Theurge+ ?

Vmc magus gets you spell strike at a high level, but that doesn't work until at least level 11.

Just use a spell storing enchantment, that will let you cast a spell on a hit, would work with any divine caster

Someone might've built one for a one shot, but trying to actually level such a character probably wouldn't be fun (unless your campaign is really laid back).

It would also completely wreck your arcane pool and arcana advancement among other problems (like theurge having a poor BAB progression).

I guess the end result would be playable, but you'd have a stretch where you'd be hurting (essentially, everything between levels 7 to 12 or so while waiting for divine power to come online to compensate for what you've lost).
