I made a post just now. Anyone can be in the room with the girls when the discussion is going on.

I'll probably be able to make a post or two tomorrow and then I'm out until the 27th.

Red, can you please toss up Know Arcana checks on the belt (Wizard's Foil), dagger and even the Staff of oak? It couldn't hurt to try to see if we can get more info. Sadly, Tairin doesn't have that Know trained yet.

Certainly. I am a bit embarrassed I didn't think of that myself. :(

Dain GM:

I'm confused. If the room Red and Tairin share is dark as well as the hallway Red moves into, then how is Tairin able to see the white of Red's eyes, what's she taken, the dagger in her raised hand and moving into the hallway if Tairin doesn't have dark vision (or in this case Eyes of the Cat)? Also, if Tairin is in bed, it means she's prone and to rise out of bed would take a move action, yes? But in a full-round action, move actions are not allowed. So, I'm a little lost on what Tairin can do right now and being it's Christmas tomorrow and I won't be able to post, I need some clarification and time to figure it out and find a little time to post as I'm hosting on Christmas Day and Boxing Day (the day after). (I did mention I'd be unable to post until my 27th (your 26th)).

Thanks, Dain.

Merry Christmas everyone!! :D

I don't know... I mean, human sacrifice, dark demons, bloody combat and barbaric viciousness are one thing; but lawyers seem a bit too scary for this setting ;)

I have been saying a lot in game recently. Red thinks it is a good idea she be tied up, though she isn't happy about it and does not care if Samir stays in the room or not.

Another thing, Red is really miserable in game. But that is just Red, the player is fine with events.

Is Bjoern still with us? I haven't seen a post from him since 24th and there he said he had slept well and woke, ready to check out the city? LOL I think Tairin needs a new bodyguard then. ;)

Seriously, hope Bjoern's okay and it's just Xmas responsibilities taking up his time.

Ariarh Kane wrote:

I hope so, too, Ariarh, but I'm not sure.

After all, at the start of the game I indicated that players who wanted to participate should expect to post at least once a day. If they were unable to post for a few days, then letting us know what's going on would be reasonable - so at this point I feel a bit confused.

Hopefully he will post something soon; if not, I'll send him a PM and see if he's still interested in playing; though I hope he is.

Finally everyone, I'm sorry for the delay; I've been working 16 hour work days for the past several days and I'm unfortunately a bit tired. I'll have more up tomorrow, though.

I don't know what is happening with Bjoern. It may be the season, all my other online campaigns have pretty much ground to a halt over Christmas.

Of course Christmas will have a greater effect in more traditional Pathfinder games, where Elves are a popular race and they are all too busy crafting toys to do anything else.

Dainyou have been working 16 hour days and are only a bit tired? You must be resilient indeed. No need to apologise for having to earn a living.

Many thanks, I appreciate that!

Meanwhile, I am not as tired as I am starting to worry. I went to bed at 1:00 AM earlier this evening after working my first job from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM, then left that job for my second job which is from 6:00 PM to midnight - when I get home it's a little after midnight and so I post - but now it is roughly 5:30 AM - I need to be awake in a few hours, but I can't sleep.

The reason I worry is because I'm awake all the time - I can't sleep; it's getting to be too much and I just wish I could rest, but I can't for some reason. People who don't sleep end up having horrible issues; I don't want to be one of those people, but I don't know how to fix the problem.

That said; since I couldn't sleep I decided to check the boards - I'll try to put something up now, as today I need to be up at 8:30 AM to be at work at 9:30 AM (it's good to be able to sleep in an extra hour today ;)

Dain- Sorry to hear about your problems.

I have had some ongoing [to say the least] sleep problems myself. I had been tired much of the time and later was getting up and to sleep later and later.

I finally got some help from a dedicated sleep doctor. The sources were varied and complex, routine , sleep apnoea and stress. But I got a big immediate benefit from being told to stop ingesting so much caffeine.

Sleep deprivation can really mess you around as you say.

Working 2 jobs, starting 8.30 am and finishing midnight, is fairly obviously likely to be bad for sleep. Especially if you don't have a regular routine.

My suggestion is do what I did, get to an expert and do what they tell you. I might sound like your school teacher but I think it is sensible. In any event I hope things improve.

Female Aasimar Druid 7 (Noble)

Glad you're back posting, Bjoern.

Dain GM wrote:

I agree completely about what you said about how Bjeorn is supposed to be your bodyguard - he has an obligation to protect you and defend your life. He not only did not make any effort to do so during the night, but he made no follow-up query regarding your safety in the morning. You are correct to ask about this as it will become problematic in the future if it is not resolved.

Dain GM: As to Bjoern, Tairin hasn't played out his absence as yet - He doesn't even know what transpired in the early hours of the morning. I was giving his player a chance to do a little rp and catch up. :)

No worries, Ariarh, I understand. On the plus side, I only worked until 11:00 PM today, so I have the chance to get something up before I go to sleep.

That said; the post moves things forward to the bath house, but if you guys have any further social RP to do before arriving, that's totally cool. What you did earlier via the spoiler was great; if anyone else has any further questions or ideas, toss them up via spoilers, too.

Being it's NYE tomorrow night for us southern hemisphere folk, I'll only be able to post once or twice more and then I'll be getting ready for the celebrations. Just a heads-up. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year - May 2018 be a positive year for all. :)

Red said to be honest with the Priestess and so Tairin is being honest (and giving her a simple rundown of what occurred, until we hear from Mei-Mei and determine she can be trusted with this).

I understand; I will need to consider Mei-Mei's response via the amount of information which was shared.

I will respond to the post, but I just got home from work and I am in need of food and a bit of medicine.

The response will be up in a little while, though. See you all soon :)

She also suggests that it does not seem Red is possessed by a demon, per se, but it is clear something is possessing Red that is supernatural in power.

"Thank you kindly Mei-Mei." replies Red when Mei-Mei has finished speaking "perhaps the being that did or does possess my body is not demonic but the shade of some deceased powerful human, bent on possessing the bodies of the living to avenge some wrong done to them in life. Much of what I said or felt when my body was not my own indicates this rather than demonic influence. How an undead spirit will avenge itself on somebody long dead is not clear. I doubt that pointing out the logical flaw in the undead spirit's plan to it will result in it apologising and abandoning my body. I suggest we allow this sagacious lady to inspect the items as she asks. Just give me a minute."

Having finished speaking, Red stands and moves to a place in the room as far away from Mei-Mei as she can get.

Of course Red could be wrong.

Imagine if next time the undead spirit possesses Red, one of the party members were to say-

"Excuse me, I believe there is something you have not considered. How do you intend to avenge yourself on somebody long dead?"

"I had not considered that. My bad. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."

End of adventure path.

It certainly avoids many genre cleche's and much trouble. Worth a try?

Red did offer to heal anyone who needed it earlier.

Female Aasimar Druid 7 (Noble)

Well it is best that Red save her hex/person for the Catacombs and the Priestess heal the remainder of the wounds for free. Plus, I think the guys pretty much handwaved your offer because they were only down a few hp or less.

BTW Red, your HP aren't at full on your status line (it still says 13/17). ;) It just helps to have the correct HP on there so the GM knows how much people are down before, during and after.

Dain GM wrote:

Your party can take the dagger back, of course, but she has already seen it at this point...

Tairin asked/directed Anhur and Hedran to take out the scrolls and dagger respectively and hand them to Mei-Mei for examination. Since both players were unable to post during that time, it was assumed that happened. Mei-Mei asked to keep the scrolls for the time being to decipher them and Tairin said that would be alright and to be discreet about them and that they would collect them once back from the Catacombs. Tairin also said the group would decide on whether to take the dagger down into the Catacombs (she's voting yes) and so it was presumed the dagger was re-wrapped and taken by Hedran and put back inside his pack to be taken with them. That's how I saw the action unfold via the given rp.

If need be, Tairin would have re-wrapped the dagger and handed it to Hedran for safekeeping.

Female Aasimar Druid 7 (Noble)

Dain GM, during the time Tairin is negotiating purchases for the party's sojourn into the Catacombs, she will sell her Common Thieves Tools and buy Masterwork Thieves Tools in their place (if the exchange is reasonable, as Tairin hasn't got an abundance of coin). If anyone else wants to sell any items, please let Tairin and the GM know. Thanks. :)

I think the party should all pitch in for the dungeoneering kit (shovel/pick etc) as we'll all be needing to use it/them in the Catacombs. What say you? I don't know if a party member already has one, so please let me know if you do. Thanks.

A dungeoneering kit sounds wise.
I'm doing what I can to catch up in gameplay, but it's a lot to handle.

Female Aasimar Druid 7 (Noble)

A little summary to help. Anhur, basically we all went to the bathhouse and met with the Priestess, Mei-Mei. She looked over the scrolls and dagger and gave us some information about the Yadar priest who owned the dagger and told us the only way to stop the possession is to find the missing bones/remains of said priest in the Catacombs (apparently his tomb may have been raided and thus why we have the dagger in our possession right now) and destroying the remains, releasing the spirit/soul and ending the predicament Red finds herself in. Mei-Mei kept the scrolls to decipher their text while we're trying to deal with the bones/remains. We have taken the dagger with us. The Priestess also told us it would help if we discovered who the thief of the dagger etc was ... as he/she would know where the items were discovered. Before we left the bathhouse, Mei-Mei healed the remainder of wounds of the party (so everyone's now at full health). This was a free service.

Mei-Mei told us to use the Catacomb entrance near the inn where we're staying as it is less guarded by the Priests and to do so come nightfall so we aren't noticed.

Meanwhile, Samir disappeared just after we entered the bathhouse (he went to undertake his own personal tasks) and he hasn't returned as yet. Samir has some knowledge of the Catacombs and thus would make a good enough guide down there as the part of the ruins we need to search is the section that is quite old, rundown and possibly caved in. And we can't let the Priest Guardians of the Catacombs know we're down there.

I have considered it and would like to take Extra Hex again and take evil eye. With a Bouda that means i get to apply a second -2 with Bouda's eye. that OK with you?

I guess we can assume yes Tairin re-wrapped the dagger, and handed it back to Hedran, if Dain is cool with it.

Agreed on the dungeoneering kit + pick and shovel purchase. Hedran will obviously chip in though... Have we actually split any cash among us? May want to buy some alchemical stuff (if available) but would need to know how much money I have first :D

Hedran has five grappling arrows, a crowbar and an extra rope also. I just realized I never got to buy the rest of my gear... Oh well... He will at least need rations and water.

HP updated.

If I understand the craft skill correctly, I should have time to make some vermin repellent today. However, we should probably all have a dose of that, and plenty of torches, and probably some acid. I'd love to craft it all, but alas, time.
