A arcanist takes Develop Bloodline:Arcanist and chooses a bonded item, then takes familiar as a separate exploit>

Generally speaking, the rules do not allow this, but it requires some Anglicization of Algebra to come to that conclusion.

Relevant text(s):

Bloodline Development wrote:
[t]he arcanist selects one sorcerer bloodline upon taking this exploit. The arcanist gains that bloodline’s 1st-level bloodline power as though she were a 1st-level sorcerer.
Arcane Bond (Arcane Bloodline) wrote:
[a]t 1st level, you gain an arcane bond, as a wizard equal to your sorcerer level.
Arcane Bond (Wizard class feature) wrote:
[a]t 1st level, wizards form a powerful bond with an object or a creature. This bond can take one of two forms: a familiar or a bonded object. A familiar is a magical pet that enhances the wizard’s skills and senses and can aid him in magic, while a bonded object is an item a wizard can use to cast additional spells or to serve as a magical item. Once a wizard makes this choice, it is permanent and cannot be changed.

Emphases mine

Basically, the ability treats you as a sorcerer, whose relevant text treats you as a wizard. Because of this, you follow the rules for wizard which states you can't change this choice.

EDIT: if you can find a ruling somewhere that says a wizard can take a bonded item and also take feats like Wasp Familiar or Familiar Bond (which it is assumed they cannot unless they trade out the Arcane Bond class feature for something else in an archetype) then it could be allowed.

So tl;dr no it is not legal, unless you have a really nice or naive DM.

The Arcane Bond ability gained from the Sorcerer's Arcane bloodline does not allow you to have both a familiar and a bonded object, so no you couldn't take and benefit from both of these.

To my mind, they have the same problem that you cited earlier. Both act as the Arcane Bond and so should have the same restriction against also having a Bonded Object.

It's just taking the same ability twice. Nothing says you can do anything different with the feature, i.e. making two different selections.

The Arcane Bloodline ability from the Sorcerer says you can't, so that specific combination at very least won't work.

So, assuming that my arcanist wanted a familiar and a bonded item (not wasp) what options are there...I am toying with dipping into a class with cure spells for other reasons...

Bonded items aren't all that exciting. What are you planning to do with it?

Custom Staff at 1/2 gold...

You'd still need to meet the level prerequisite for the Craft Staff feat (caster level 11) before you could do that, and by the time you're that high a level paying one feat isn't a big deal. This also lets you dodge the downsides of bonded items, which are pretty nasty for bonded weapons.

Actually the character already has the arcane bond portion...
