Un-rogue almost lvl 5... what next?

Advice

My human un-rogue is almost lvl 5.
It's a PFS character with the following stats:

Strength 10
Dexterity 19
Constitution 12
Intelligence 13
Wisdom 12
Charisma 13

It's also worth nothing this PC can use vanish and is pretty good at moving into position for flanking with the party's main melee character. It did well thus far but I fear after level 5 things will change dramatically. So... what to do next?

As I see things my options are:

-Keep it as an un-rogue. It will get gloom magic and greater gloom magic at level 6 and 8, which will help getting even more sneak attack damage in. And of course sneak attack will improve up to 6d6, which isn't half bad for a kukri wielding un-rogue adding its dex to damage. Yet I don't know how to deal with the lack of flight, and I fear huge monsters will hit the character far too easily.

-Get a level of wizard (transmuter or illusionist or diviner) and then become an arcane trickster. The character will be able to flyfrom lvl 10 and will have several spells to boost itself. Losing all favoured class bonuses though and sneak attack only gets up to 5d6. Wizard also helps with will save.

-Become a Shadowdancer. The PC won't be able to fly but it will be able to teleport from shadow to shadow. It will also get the ability to summon shadow minions and to hide in plain sight, poor man's invisibility maybe but almost always useful. No boost to sneak attack and weak defenses though.

What option should I choose?

Liberty's Edge

Whatever is most fun for you! I really like advanced talents and would continue unchained rogue personally.

You only told us your class and ability scores. What sort of feats and rogue talents have you taken? You mentioned vanish and flanking, what else do you tend to do in combat?

As for flight, I would suggest a few potions of Fly. That is what my cleric did when the circumstances required it. One or two levels of wizard aren't going to fix that, and you would have to be level ten before you could cast the spell yourself as an Arcane Trickster. If flight is all you want, you could afford an item that allowed you to fly before your character would learn to cast the spell themselves.

Here's the rest of the relevant information:

Quote:

Feats: Dodge, Weapon Finesse*, Mobility, Two weapon fighting

Class features: Finesse training(Kukri)*, Sneak Attack (2d6+1), Martial Training (weapon proficence-Kukri), Evasion, Rogue Talent 01 (Minor Magic - Mage Hand), Daring, Uncanny Dodge, Rogue Talent 02 (Major Magic - Vanish), Debilitating Injury
Traits: Fast Talker, Blade of the Society
Skills: Acrobatics +11; Bluff +9; Climb +3; Disable Device +12, Disguise +6; Knowledge Local +5, Perception +8; Perform(dance) +7, Profession(sailor) +5; Sense Motive +8; Sleight of Hand +10; Stealth +10; Use Magic Device +8;

As for potions of flight: their are 1 use only and terribly costy.

My problem with flight is the following: the character is built to quickly set up a flank and TWF an opponent with Sneak Attack, rinse and repeat. This worked pretty well until now but knowing how the game changes from lvl 5 I think the character needs a way to deal with flying opponents/creatures able to set themselves out of reach.

If you have Ultimate Combat, before your next level buy a Glider. Since Fly skill is used to drive it, this will allow you to put skill points in fly.

Use Prestige Points for the potions of fly. Although you have UMD, it isn't high enough to reliably activate a scroll of fly. In my experience with PFS, you will very seldom need more than one potion of Fly. Expect to use a potion about once every level. It really isn't that costly at your level.

Do you have any weapons made of special materials? Do you have a magical Kukri? You are at the level where not having a magical weapon can be a real problem. Even with Dex to Damage, you are not going to be able to force your way through DR, so you will need a way to work around that.

Do you have a swarm-bane clasp or some other way to deal with swarms? The swarms at your level will not die to just a couple of alchemist fire any more.

You didn't say what your AC is. At 4th going into 5th level hopefully it is close to 20. Higher would be better.

For me next would be unRouge level 6

I've found the Feat: Hellcat Stealth extremely useful for rogues. Being able to make a stealth check while in plain view is nasty. Since you're human, you need the ambient light for this check anyway.

Robe of Needles is a cheap, effective magic item for rogues and gives you some range attacks.

Things immune to your SA damage, someone else will have to help with.
I usually go with UMD and run around with some wands in this case.
