So, I have a player whose character keeps falling into water and gets attacked by something with tentacles.
I want to keep doing this to him. The PCs are 5th level (5th Edition too), so what are some fun tentacled monstrosities of depths?
Obviously, I'm going to bring him face-to-slime-covered-tentacle with an aboleth when it's CR appropriate.
Thanks for all your creepy advice!

A Merfolk, Undine, or other aquatic caster using Black Tentacles could be an option too.

The Froghemoth. Illithids. Octopi and squid of all sizes. Alchemist grapplers with the Tentacle Discovery. White Haired Witches. Hexcrafter Magi with the Prehensile Hair Hex. Kraken Caller Druids. In the Darksun world, there is a enormous monster called Silt Horrors. Jellyfish, Ropers. Akaname, Cave Fishers and giant frogs have tongue attacks: close.
In the Aberration Section of d20pfsrd, I found the Aatheriexa, Abyssal Harvster, Akata, Veiled Master and the Omnipath, an eel with a tail and slime attack: close. Also the targotha has a slimy tail attack. The Aberration list goes on and on. I got tired of looking, but I'm sure there are many more tentacly things.
There monstrous plants: all kinds of things with strangling, poisonous, bloodsucking vines.
How do you feel about Oozes and Swarms? Fertile ground for creeping out your player(s).

its a merfolk or some underwater humanoid that has a crush on his character.... and casts the black tentacles spell ahahahahahahaha.
How about a gillman alchemist with the tentacle discovery, and possibly a tumor familiar that resembles an octopus? Both are available at lower levels than black tentacles, too. Plus a gillman gives you a natural tie-in to the aboleth when the campaign is ready for them.
You could also use the mermaid (cecaelia?) from the movie Dagon as inspiration for a tentacled NPC who romantically fixates on a character.
ETA: I just reread the OP, and saw it's a 5th Edition game. If that's the case, this topic should get moved to the 5E section, not Pathfinder. (Sadly, that rules out gillmen and alchemists unless you'll willing to do some conversions.)

Unearthed Arcana has an Artificer class, and one of its archetypes is the Alchemist. And Volo's Guide has a quasi-gillman race.
:-D
And converting monsters is super easy in 5th Edition! :-D

And from the DragonLance universe, we gots dem Wyndlasses (or wuz it Wyndlassis?) for all yer tentacly needs...
I's recalls seein' dem in those old SSI DragonLance Gold-Box games back in the day (Death Knights of Krynn, in particular)
And iffen ya gotta asks how they ends up appearin' in a Non-Krynn'ish world, I says you should blames it all on dem Kenders, Gully Dwarves, and Tinker Gnomes (especially the Tinker Gnomes)...
