Hello all!
I have problems interpreting the Bloodline Arcana of the Marid Bloodline.
Preliminars (as far as I understand):
1. "water" is the name of a plane and the element/type of some elementals.
2. "water" and "cold" are both spell descriptors!
3. "cold" is the damage type (or energy type) of all spells with water and/or cold descriptors.
The bloodline arcana of the Marid says
"Bloodline Arcana: Whenever you cast a spell that deals energy damage, you can change the type of damage to cold. This also changes the spell’s descriptors to match this energy type."
Now, what is/are the spell descriptor/s that match/es the cold energy type?
The problems lies on the word "match", because in my interpretation both the "water" and "cold" descriptors are good, but others may say the descriptor must be cold, excluding water.I disagree because in that case it would have been clearer to just write "This also changes the spell’s descriptor to cold." or something similar.
On the other hand, if my interpretation is correct, there is the additional question: who decides which descriptor to use or whether to use both? A possible answer is that there are always both descriptors or that the caster can choose.
Any comment will be appreciated!

Try rereading the part on spell descriptors. For example, Cone of Cold is a cold spell, Fireball is a fire spell, etc. Water is not an energy type, so it doesn't come into play. The reason it's written the way it is is because it's a rewrite of the Elemental bloodline, which this is simply a more focused version of that bloodline.

Hello! Thanks for the comment. I don't know if it's just me, but this doesn't seem to actually answer my question...
The sentence "This also changes the spell’s descriptors to match this energy type" means here clearly
"This also changes the spell’s descriptors to match the cold energy type". So far it's clear but the point is that both cold descriptor and water descriptor match the cold energy type.
Is it clearer now?

"...to match this energy type" is referring to the preceding sentence where it specifies 'cold'. Nowhere in the ability does it mention the 'water' descriptor.
Any energy spell you change with this bloodline ability deals cold damage and gains the cold descriptor.
Also, as pointed out by val'bryn2, 'water' is not an energy type so it would never be a valid option anyway.
