I'm very tempted to use this archetype for a character....the one thing I'm really struggling with is the decreased BA of the Eidolon.
I know the iterative attacks lost are not a problem, and with a high enough strength the attack bonus could still be there....but it seems like it's a pretty bad nurf...

It's not bad. The SLA + the summoner spells to buff the devil eidolon allows many tactical options...not even taking into account all the tweaks with evolution points.
The only thing to watch out for, it is very focused on fire, but well...even that isn't really an issue. Against fire immune opponent, can just dismiss the devil, and summon another monster (sadly the loss of Summon Monster SLA is annoying but well...you can still cast Summon Monster from your summoner spell list).
Note that smite chaos can give you some pretty serious punch as well. Perfect for crushing the enemies of the Hellknights. ^_^
Well damn....I missed that you completely loose SM SLA....somehow I just assumed that meant you didn't get lvl 1.....
Even more to consider......
