To be or not to be...the face

Advice

So I'm hitting level 2 and need to lock down my character choice. I've got my plan for a skaldX/Bloodrager level 1. Planning to do a desert based half orc and finally have a plan to get his skills where I would like. But I'm still hesitating. I think it comes down to having a higher charisma and by extension getting some really high diplomacy scores. But I'm not a huge fan of being the face.. Partly because I'm on the phone all day with customers and maybe it is just the urge to smash faces when i get to play as a outlet.

So I could bite the bullet and go this route or just go with the occultist and hit things really hard while still having some skills lined up. Planned both out and I like both but really not sure which way to go atm.

Oh this is for PFS I do have a empiricist investigator that gets to add int to diplomacy and i can have fun with that but I use the whole "logic vs emotions" arguments

If you don't want to be the face, then just smash face! Charisma is used to Intimidate too.

If you don't feel like being the face, then don't. You don't want to be stuck with a character you don't enjoy playing and I wholeheartedly support roleplaying as escapism from your dayjob. Also, an Occultist is really fun and has some great abilities for information gathering that don't need a high Charisma score.

I'm a tad worried the skald will be very similar to my investigator, but I do enjoy the investigator, jyst don't want them feeling the same. The occultist could be very fun too. Lol when I get this character higher and need a new character for low levels I'll probably maker the other.

If you want the song mechanic, what about an Evangelist Cleric or one of the other class archetypes that receives it?
With only a 10 or 12 Charisma and Lingering Performance you'll still have a decent number of rounds per day of song, and with only 2 skills per level, there's no expectation you'll be the party face.
You lose Medium armour, but with PFS wealth distribution and only going to 11, Mithral Chain is very viable for a non-tank melee. Even more so with a single dip of UnMok.
If you get your Strength up you can still play the beat-stick too, especially with Divine Favour and a couple of Cleric buffs/Domains in your back pocket.

A face has a powerful personality. I have "faces" that do say much. "You need to help" "give us that" but they have so much force behind their character that people comply. If you don't feel like talking much try this.

@Conjoy.. I like going with a decent amount of skill points. If I get time after work I'll post the skald idea. Too give you a idea I'm ditching darkvision for extra skill points. The character at level 2 will be reliably buffing himself +8 str/con... so while everyone else can partake the +2 str/con... it really is for him :)
@Grandlounge.. good point, also I'm gaining diplomacy and sense motive from versatile performance.. so maybe present it while referring to a story he heard. Hmm might work

If you are using preform oratory. Just make up any story you want. "You remember the story about the little grasshopper who sat still too long" 27 diplomacy. The story touches his heart and wants to help you.
