I have compiled a Google Docs document of all the information that I have seen about Starfinder so far. I'll do what I can to regularly update this document with any relevant new information.

Collected Information on Starfinder

A lot of the information I've added is my best stab at interpreting the limited material available, and so I can't guarantee anything for sure. Please feel free to suggest additions to the file, discuss what you think, and just talk about Starfinder in general.

Very nicely done!

You could add The Sixth Finger to page 16 under Enemies.

Also: Good work, thank you.

Thanks. I tried to only put individuals under Enemies who I was almost positive would be in constant opposition with a given party. For instance, although there are a good amount of evil Hellknights, enough of them are neutral or good that it didn't seem to warrant them as a faction being labeled enemies. A goblin however is almost always evil, and rarely an ally to the player characters. I don't know enough about the Sixth Finger yet to know if they can be considered evil enough for that.

Good job, but can you include third party stuff later on?

EltonJ wrote:

I honestly don't know a lot about 3rd party material. I don't usually use them myself. I'll try to look into it, and if you want to pm me with any specific additions that could be incredibly helpful. I'd like to add third party info as well as information about Starfinder Society.

What are some things I should look into concerning third party starfinder materials to add? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would suggest Frog God Games' Planetarium book out of the gate. Their collection of Aliens have to be read through to make sure that they are balanced.

For the iconic Raia: We now know that she is a Damaya. That apparently does not follow automatically from the fact that she is female.

we know Feint is in, we know there is a specific AC that sounds equivalent to Flat Footed, we know there are still improved and greater feint as things, likely feats.

I swore I'd added that! Thanks for reminding me. I'll add it in tomorrow.

I'm a little hesitant to write down more than the names of the feats (like their specific properties), and because Flat Footed wasn't specifically mentioned as a type of armor class, I don't know if it's it's own separate armor class or some type of stat modifier (maybe something more akin to holding Higher Ground). I try to be as objective as possible when I write down info (it's not easy, I just want the game to come out :P).

    Excellent work!

    Hmm

We know the Envoy has 16 class skills, unless that's a typo. So there probably wont be too fewer skills than in pathfinder.

I'd imagine that certain skills like knowledge have been condensed, but that was a reference to what was said during the charity playtest so I'd imagine it's less than the current thirty something skills. I do hope they can consolidate them a bit. From the usage of mysticism in the playtest, I've got some faith that it will be done fairly well.

Found out that all classes get Weapon Specialization. Just not with all weapons.

Small nit pick: you say "so far only one theme has been announced " then list two.

some nice details on two new ships... well one new ship that looks like a lot of fun and some futher details on an Alliance cruiser we have been seeing around for a bit now.

EDIT: And the latest look at the Atech Immortal has the cheek plates shortened to allow the topside turret the range to actually be a turret! I am so happy about this that i will look over the new underside turret that cant shoot forward or aft. Also, i dont remember seeing that hanger on it before, is that new?

    Really loving the BMC Mauler

We actually know about 4 themes so far. I don't remember where we learned about the first theme, Outlaw, but the second and third ones we learned about - Ace Pilot and Scholar - were revealed during the Nerdarchy interview with James Sutter. The fourth one was revealed in the EnWorld article on Castrovel - the Xenoseeker.

I figured it out, the BMC Mauler is half Star Fury and half Zentraedi design... i'll take five!

Now, how does my mechanic implant his AI into it?

The weapon proficiencies are basic melee weapons, advanced melee weapons, small arms, long arms, heavy weapons, sniper weapons, grenades, and then there are special weapons.

From watching it I've become a bit confused. He describes the scholar "theme" as being able to be tacked onto multiple classes, but I though that was supposed to be the role of archetypes so I'm a little hesitant in specifically adding it on. Going back to the video of the Q&A to figure it out.

Themes are mostly universal, they have said some may affect things like spell casting so only spell caster get a benefit from them but otherwise anyone can pick any theme, likewise with archetypes i believe.

I think the themes will provide different abilities, while archetypes will change abilities. Like a medic theme. Maybe the operative gets a specific exploit, or the envoy a medical improvisation (good thing to hear your doctor say) whole archetypes change, say, the expertise of the envoy. Sonething like that maybe

The question about archetypes and themes in the q&a was at the end of the video... I watched the whole thing. I suppose at least now I can fix the errors I made.

Just had a thought - maybe put a * next to speculation? Or uncertainties?

I try to make it as clear as possible when I'm speculating. I totally misread the way themes worked and honestly though that's what I heard. Sorry about that.

Under Skills: Pilot isn't mentioned. Is it a Skill, or is it something else? Pretty sure it's a Skill.

A typo under About Skill Design: the second sentence should read, "It is likely that there will not be as many skills."

Under Health and Stamina: spending a Resolve to regain Stamina took a 10 minute short rest during the demo.

I know that piloting is a starship role, however I've yet to see it be referenced specifically as a skill (although I could probably check the Facebook video later to see what skill the pilot starship role uses, as each role supposedly uses a skill for it's actions). I'll fix the typo later and add the expanded info on resolves usage for stamina regen in a bit.

Also (just as a general note) planning to add the info from the Eox article today, and expand Navasi's description to add more details and make the description clearer.

Pilot is a second "class", not a skill.

    Fardragon wrote:

The way i understood it, Ace Pilot is a theme that lets a character get bonuses to actions in some ship roles but that theme itself is not a requirement to perform or even excel at those roles. It just makes it easier to do so for those that want to play a ship heavy game.

Ace Pilot is a theme which is the Starfinder equivalent of a trait in Pathfinder. Pilot is a starship role that a player acts in when participating in starship combat. There's nothing about classes concerning pilots that I know of, although I could be mistaken.

I had interpreted themes to be a bit broader in scope than traits. We will have to wait and see the Core Rule book to know which is right.

I thought a theme was supposed to be a *lot* more than just a trait or two... like every class as a chassis is supposed to have slots that the themes plug into and that, overall, themes are how you customize classes instead of using archetypes (which will be much rarer because of this system) The big difference was that while in Pathfinder you could play a base class without an archetype, Starfinder expects every character to have a theme as the default.

Maybe I explained it poorly. They're a replacement for traits in spirit. As explained in the Humble Bundle Q&A, they're supposedly a reflection of the character's background that you pick when creating your character, but unlike pathfinder's traits system, themes seem to unlock further benefits as the character levels. It also seems that you can only choose one them. By the way themes were talked about in relation to traits in the Q&A, it also seems like a safe bet to state that traits themselves will not be present in Starfinder.

So far, from the space combat playtest, it appears that there is a skill called "piloting" which is used by the pilot character in skill checks. I'll update that.

Flat footed is a condition, rather than a different AC calculation.
There is no separate touch AC
Each and KAc are the only two calculated ACs.
There is no CMB/CMD, though we still have combat maneuvers.
Envoy and operative have the same bab progression, Owen was just using casual terms (average, typical) to note their relative position compared to "good" base attack bonus.

:D After so many months, the details are popping up everywhere now.

I found a few interesting things. Mostly general descriptions of various classes, although a few interesting things on stats. Not a whole lot but still interesting.

Its not concrete but he did mention how Stamina and Resolve are specifically meant to help get around the 10 minute adventuring day as well and how "all day" classes dont mesh well when 3/4 of the system is meant to work on more expendable resources.

Owen KC Stephens posted a link to this on Facebook earlier. It's about whether or not "min-maxing" and pointbuy are good or not. The verdict: I came here to have a good time and play the character that I want to play, not get stuck with a random rolls character.

A quote from there, important bit bolded for emphasis:

    "Path to the (Far) Future
This summer sees the release of Starfinder, a new RPG that takes the Pathfinder franchise into the realms of science fantasy. In that book, the main method for generating stats is point-buy with optional rules for rolling presented as a variant. But the point-buy method used in that game takes another shot at solving the problems that the divergence of ability scores causes at higher levels, but you are going to have to wait until this summer to see how."

    I noticed a typo:

In the second sentence in the Iseph iconic entry, you used "he" instead of "they" to refer to Iseph. You got it right in the rest of the paragraph though.

Thanks for this consolidated collection of info! It's a very helpful resource.
