Blow Gun questions

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Two questions so far....

First (1a), what is the blowgun made out of? Or rather, are their special material options for a blowgun?

(1b) Same question, but for the Blowgun Darts.

Second (2), how does magical enhancement work with blowguns and their ammunition?

If it matters, this is for a core PFS character with very low strength. So question 1 is regarding both the DR bypass of special materials for the blowgun darts and options to decrease the weight of the blowgun.

CRB does not cover blowguns (or their darts) in the rules for magical ammunition. Question 2 is regarding this lack of coverage. Not sure if the intention is that blowguns are purely intented for poison, so are unable to have magical ammunition, or if it is an oversight.

Well.. I have no clue if i'll be right...

1) Doesn't list any materials so I figure any maluable material. I mean there are wood, bamboo, and even metal blowguns. Both current and semi ancient... and pathfinder is a world with some crazy weird mix of craft abilities.. Though I imagine most GM's will be imagining the whole "voodoo guy from diablo 3 or the old bad movies" sorta woodones.

1) The darts aren't listed so I kind of figure the same thing, any material would make sense, sorta like arrows. Can't think of a reason why the "piercing tip" can't be of a different metal material. like a bolt or arrow.

b) I imagine the enhancments work just like normal ranged weapon ones. Is there a reason you think they wouldn't ?

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding magical enhancement, "For ammunition, this price is for 50 arrows, bullets, or bolts." So is magical enhancement on blowgun darts requiring enhancement per dart? Or can I purchase them in lots of 50, like for bows, bullets, and bolts? The practicality of magic enhancements goes way down on the darts if I'm paying 1k per +1 dart...And maybe that is the intention.

All ranged weapons work like this.

If you enhance the delivering piece, like the bow or the crossbow, it gives it's enhancements to the ammo.
If you enhance ammo it's 50 pieces are treated as 1 weapon, but you can't reuse them.

So if you had a +1 flaming bow and a +1 shocking arrow the ammo as it's flying to the enemy is +1 flaming and shocking.

Ah i see I see. Its from Core as well, which makes it weirder as well.

Well. I'd hae to look it up again but I think somewhere there was a line about "all ammo is enchanted in stack of 50" or something somewhere. I thought ultimate equipment but it must not be that because shuriken is from core..

Might be worth checking into that if you can. I know there has to be a line somewhere..
because Shuriken calls them out as "treated as ammo" and not "treated as arrow bolt" etc

"Benefit: Although they are thrown weapons, shuriken are treated as ammunition for the purposes of drawing them, crafting masterwork or otherwise special versions of them, and what happens to them after they are thrown"
