Divine Scion + Seperatist Cleric?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

The answer is probably no, but I figured I ask anyway.

Seperatist Cleric archetype allows me to pick a domain outside of my deity's normal domains, at reduced effectiveness. That said, the power is still coming from the deity, not from another source.

Divine Scion Prestige class let's you take Domain Specization in one of the domains granted by your deity. Can I pick the one gained via the seperatist cleric?

On the one hand, it is definitely not one of the normal domains granted by the deity. On the other hand, the deity is granting you this domain, so it is a domain granted by the deity. Thoughts?

An interesting question... wish I had an interesting opinion to add.

If you read the section on domain specialization you don’t even need to choose a domain that you gained from being a cleric. You could choose another domain that your cleric grants that you do not even have. This would indicate that it does not matter what domains you have because of being a cleric. But it does need to be on the list of domains granted by your deity.

While the power from the outside domain is indeed coming from your deity it is not granted by your deity. I look at the second domain as more of the separatist exchanging powers they were given. If I give you a present and you take it back to the store and exchange it for something completely different I did not give the item you exchange my present for.

It never says if the domain comes from the deity or not, which kind of puts this in the 'ask your DM' zone. All it says is that the domain comes from outside the deities listed domains. It might be something else grants it or the deity themselves grant a non-standard domain.

So the answer is that it isn't covered, but you all lean towards no? That's where I was at when I posted. Thanks for confirming my opinion.

Too bad, would be a fun option.
